Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Sociology, or a Master's degree including 18 graduate-level credit hours in Sociology or a closely related field.
  • Research, publication, or work experience may be substituted for up to three graduate credits.
  • Candidates who are close to completing the Master's degree and are making progress may also be considered.
  • A resume, cover letter, and copy of transcripts are required.
  • Upon hire, faculty must submit academic transcripts from an accredited institution.
  • Applicants with degrees from outside the United States must obtain a credential evaluation of their transcripts.
  • If hired, candidates must provide documents within three days of the hire date showing their identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • A criminal background check is required upon hire, with possible industry-specific screenings such as a motor vehicle record check, physical examination, or drug screen.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain compliance with the requirements of the Early College assignment, including contract days, work-day schedule, and participation in Early College events such as New Student Orientation, Student Registration, In-Service Days, and Parent/Teacher Conferences as specified in the Early College Faculty contract addendum.
  • Maintain compliance with the provisions of the College's part-time faculty position description, including teaching to develop, implement, evaluate, and update the purpose, philosophy, objectives, and organizational framework of the program.
  • Maintain compliance with all faculty responsibilities enumerated in the College Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide effective and high-quality instruction in all levels of course offerings by continually refining and modernizing curriculum so that it remains educationally sound and meets the College's standards.
  • Use alternative delivery technology in lecture and laboratory instruction to enhance student learning.
  • Apply learning-centered educational practices, including creating and communicating clearly defined outcomes for student learning.
  • Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Work Monday through Friday at the Early College Academy, with some evenings for parent/teacher conferences and other school activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • K-12 teaching experience.
  • Experience with concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment programs.
  • Experience using technology in the classroom or teaching online.
