Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing.
  • No prior experience is required.
  • Ability to complete intravenous insertion and assessment, including peripheral and central line access.
  • Ability to use point-of-care ultrasound equipment and intravenous infusion pumps.
  • Ability to interpret department-specific policies and related laboratory results to safely manage patient needs.
  • Ability to use the electronic health record to access treatment and therapy plans.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
  • An applicable registered nurse license for the state of work location, including Wisconsin or a compact-state license as specified.
  • At least one applicable specialty credential or certificate in oncology, anticoagulation, infusion therapy, chemotherapy/immunotherapy, or vascular access, as specified.
Responsibilities
  • Support patient care by assessing and addressing patient and family needs.
  • Work collaboratively with interprofessional team members to resolve patient and family problems, concerns, and issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to establish patient and family treatment plans.
  • Individualize, implement, evaluate, or update plans of care and patient education needs regarding vascular access.
  • Implement, monitor, and record patient care, communicate patient condition as appropriate, and take appropriate action in response to unanticipated changes in patient condition.
  • Apply evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice while delivering age-specific and clinical care within the department's scope of service.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience with intravenous skills, CVADD knowledge, EPIC, Ivenix pumps, medication scanning, and mixing antibiotics with AddEASE adapters.
