Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • A driver’s license with at least Class 5 is required; Class 1 is preferred.
  • Experience or training relevant to drilling, sampling, heavy equipment operations, or mechanics is required.
  • The candidate must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds, climbing, crawling, walking on uneven ground, and working long hours in all weather conditions.
  • The candidate must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and travel for extended periods.
  • The candidate must be responsible and able to work independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
  • A pre-employment fit-for-duty test, including drug and alcohol testing, and a satisfactory criminal record check may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Set up and assist in operating drilling equipment, sampling systems, geophysical instruments, and other in-situ testing equipment safely and productively.
  • Become trained, company-certified, and competent to operate multiple types of drilling and fleet equipment.
  • Assist with mobilizing and demobilizing equipment in hard-to-access environments.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow safe operating procedures before beginning each job and contribute to the company’s safety culture.
  • Immediately report incidents, infractions, and near misses to the Project Manager and HSE Officer.
  • Communicate equipment problems, equipment needs, and useful field observations to the Supervisor or Project Manager.
  • Perform other shop functions as required.
  • Seek ways to improve operating procedures and processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Class 1 driver’s license and a clean driving record are preferred.
  • Completion of first-aid courses, H2S Alive, or other industry training is an asset.
  • Experience boating, driving pickup trucks, operating tracked equipment, or operating Argo ATVs is an asset.
  • Electrical and mechanical skills are assets.
