Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is required.
  • At least one year of related clinical experience is required.
  • An active registered nurse license in New York State is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Competence in data collection and analysis and in applying statistical tools is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage daily patient care and personnel activities on an assigned shift.
  • Deliver nursing care to geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Interpret the Nursing Department's philosophy and objectives with the nursing coordinator and members of nursing and hospital management.
  • Coordinate unit activities during an assigned shift by facilitating a stable and organized work environment through leadership, direction, and delegation.
  • Coordinate and supervise unit personnel activities on assigned shifts.
  • Promote staff growth and development, participate in evaluation and counseling procedures, and make management decisions regarding hiring, discipline, performance evaluations, and staff direction and assignments.
  • Guide, direct, and influence the values and behavior of others in nursing practice.
  • Enhance staff development by facilitating orientation, participating in staff meetings, and serving as a direct resource person.
