Requirements
  • A Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from an accredited institution is required.
  • An ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) is required.
  • South Carolina audiology licensure, or eligibility for licensure, is required.
  • The physical requirements include the ability to perform job functions upright, seated, and while walking or mobile; work indoors and occasionally outdoors in weather and temperature extremes; work in confined spaces; kneel and squat; perform pinching operations and repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder motions; use both hands and arms; reach in all directions; and maintain finger dexterity and tactile sensory functions.
  • The role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 15 pounds, including lifting and lowering them between floor level and 36 inches.
  • The role requires corrected 20/40 vision in one eye or both eyes, near and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and hearing acuity with correction.
  • The role requires the ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive adult audiologic care across outpatient and inpatient settings, primarily at the downtown Charleston location and at one satellite clinic.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic audiologic evaluations.
  • Select, fit, and manage amplification.
  • Evaluate and program osseointegrated devices.
  • Perform inpatient and outpatient diagnostic testing in coordination with ENT physicians.
  • Conduct auditory evoked potential testing.
  • Provide audiology clinical services including behavioral audiometric assessments for all ages; acoustic immittance; site-of-lesion and threshold auditory brainstem response testing; transient-evoked and distortion-product otoacoustic emissions; comprehensive vestibular testing, including videonystagmography, rotary chair, posturography, vestibular evoked myogenic potentials, and video head impulse testing; hearing aids; and cochlear implant and implantable hearing device programming.
  • Supervise fourth-year Doctor of Audiology students.
  • Provide instruction to otolaryngology residents and interns.
  • Deliver lectures to residents and house staff as assigned.
  • Participate in audiology seminars and departmental conferences.
  • Contribute to or collaborate in ongoing clinical research.

  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience is preferred.
  • Interest in clinical research and academic growth is highly valued.
