Requirements
  • Completion of high school plus specialized courses of up to six months.
  • One to three years of prior related experience, including at least one year of institutional cooking experience.
  • Food Safe 1 basic certification is required for employment.
  • Provide a negative TB skin test.
  • Provide a clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Willingness to obtain Occupational First Aid Certification after hiring.
  • Understanding of and alignment with the ARC Philosophy, Standards, and Tenets.
  • Provide consent for a background check.
  • Provide a clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • Provide a clean driver's abstract if applicable.
  • Complete the online Praesidium/Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
  • Provide own non-slip safety work boots initially.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Wear an appropriate clean uniform and suitable footwear, and maintain clean, orderly, and properly fixed hair.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare meals according to standardized recipes and specific dietary requirements or restrictions.
  • Follow safe food-handling and food-safe practices during preparation and service.
  • Use boiling, steaming, roasting, baking, grilling, and frying to produce menu items.
  • Rotate inventory and use food resources efficiently to minimize waste.
  • Ensure food storage, labeling, and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Communicate and cooperate with team members to support quality food production and service.
  • Follow hazard communication procedures, including the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and identification of potential allergens.
  • Apply safe lifting and carrying techniques.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining, and storage areas, including waste removal, in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and participate in workplace inspections as required.
  • Coordinate coworkers, students, or volunteers on food preparation and general kitchen maintenance when assigned and directed, particularly when the supervisor is absent.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
