Requirements
  • Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program is required.
  • The candidate must be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification is required, either from an American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider course.
  • The candidate must be able to perform the listed physical functions, including standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motions, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • The candidate must maintain the required corrected vision, hearing acuity, depth perception, color discrimination, tactile sensory function, and olfactory sensory function.
  • The candidate must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • The candidate must be able to work in a latex-safe environment and be physically qualified for respirator use initially and as required.
  • The candidate must deal effectively with stressful situations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient- and family-centered care as a partner and adviser, supporting patients and families in managing their health care while respecting their culture, values, needs, goals, and treatment preferences.
  • Apply critical reasoning, clinical judgment, and critical thinking within the scope of practice, knowledge, competency, and experience to support appropriate care and treatment.
  • Assist medical staff with patient preparation, examinations, and procedures.
  • Interview and screen patients to obtain personal data and chief complaints.
  • Document patient information, findings, and care accurately and consistently in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Perform telephone and in-person screenings.
  • Record and report patient-care information and participate in evaluating nursing outcomes.
  • Prioritize and document incoming patient calls regarding medications and medical conditions, and review them with the provider as needed for orders or changes.
  • Clean and stock examination rooms and other supply areas.
  • Document all delivered patient care in the medical record according to medical center policy.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of Licensed Practical Nurse experience is preferred.
