Requirements
  • Master’s degree in education, agriculture or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in adult education, leadership development, community development or related field

  • Must be knowledgeable about contemporary food, agricultural, natural resource, political process and community development issues
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically (1-3 trips monthly during academic semester) and internationally (1-2 trips annually)
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement the core leadership development program.
  • Work with the program’s curriculum committee to design program curricula, engage instructors, and evaluate results.
  • Delivers some program content as appropriate, or may engage other instructors/facilitators based on their expertise.
  • Plan and execute program logistics with administrative assistant to ensure efficient use of class members’ time and maximum educational impact.
  • Design and oversee formal and informal processes to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the LEAD New York program; may conduct research related to program evaluation or delivery.
  • Effectively and efficiently administer the LEAD program and associated programs.
  • Hire and supervise qualified employees to provide high-quality work performance.
  • Oversee budget development, monitor income and expenditures, and provide regular reports for council and college approval.
  • Serve as ex-officio member of the Advisory Council and its committees, providing leadership and administrative support as necessary.
  • Administers the program in accordance with current MOU and operating procedures.
  • Cultivate, solicit and steward donors and supporters that provide on-going financial and in-kind support for the program; develop and manage the budget for the program.
  • Identify and solicit donors with the Advisory Council; assist fundraising with CALS development office; implement donor accountability, database, and recognition.
  • Monitor gifts and pledges and initiate follow-up; maintain and grow alumni networking opportunities and relationships with alumni.
  • Promote program; facilitate recruitment and selection of qualified applicants for each LEAD class.
  • Prepare press releases, class and alumni directories, web page and industry displays; represent LEAD New York at meetings; enlist alumni and staff involvement.
  • Recruit, select, and onboard class members reflecting breadth and diversity; design and distribute communication materials to stimulate qualified applicants.
  • Teach LEAD 3100 Foundations in Leadership I (Fall) and LEAD 3102 Foundations in Leadership II (Spring); teach or supervise work in LEAD 4925 and LEAD 4970; advise leadership minor; guest lectures; serve on CUTL and other committees.
  • Develop and deliver complementary leadership-related programs and provide facilitation services.
  • Provide faculty oversight and administration for CALS Leadership Minor & Leadership Micro-Credential; oversee course availability; identify and develop new courses; obtain approvals; supervise staff; mentor students; support curricular planning.
  • Supervise and conduct annual performance appraisals for administrative assistant; may supervise work study students and interns; collaborate on projects and grants; periodic review of job description with Advisory Council.
Desired Qualifications
  • PhD preferred in education, agriculture or related field.
  • Fundraising and development experience preferred.
  • Foreign travel experience desirable
