Requirements
  • The Lead Medical Assistant must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The Lead Medical Assistant must hold a certificate noting successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program with state certification.
  • The Lead Medical Assistant must have two to three years of Medical Assisting experience, preferably in an outpatient setting.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record system is highly preferred.
  • Current CPR certificate is required.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise Medical Assistants in day-to-day activities under the direction of the department manager.
  • Orient, teach, monitor, and conduct periodic competencies for all Medical Assistants.
  • Perform Medical Assistant functions as needed.
  • Oversee and manage efficient patient flow in collaboration with Office and Department Manager.
  • Facilitate the resolution of staff grievances or complaints following Lowell Community Health Center guidelines and policies where required.
  • Function as a patient advocate and communicate warmth and understanding to the patient and their families.
  • Work with Providers to meet or exceed minimum threshold requirements in all core clinical measures within established clinical guidelines.
  • Assist with telephone and face-to-face patient communications, physical exams, point-of-care lab testing, and patient education.
  • Respond to patient needs and ensure health care services reflect the organization's mission and values.
  • Collaborate as part of the Medical Assistant team to ensure continuity of health care for patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience is preferred (not required).
  • Experience with an electronic medical record system is highly preferred (note: already in requirements; included here as Desirable).

Lowell Community Health Center appoints Tom Murphy as Chief Financial Officer. February 11, 2026 Lowell Community Health Center today announced the appointment of Tom Murphy as Chief Financial Officer, following his service as Interim CFO since July 2025. Murphy brings extensive financial and operational experience to the role, supporting the organization's ongoing work and priorities. During his time as Interim CFO, he worked closely with the finance and executive teams, providing steady leadership and oversight across the health center's financial systems. Prior to serving as Interim CFO, Murphy was Senior Director of Finance at Lowell Community Health Center. His collaborative leadership style and ability to manage complex financial work while keeping teams informed and supported have played an important role in supporting the organization's ongoing operations. "Tom stepped into the Interim CFO role with a clear understanding of our financial operations," said Susan West Levine, Chief Executive Officer of Lowell Community Health Center. "His experience, judgement, and consistency have been evident in his work with our finance and leadership teams.
