Responsibilities
  • Initiate, maintain, and compile records associated with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Package and prepare products and merchandise for final shipment, post weights and shipping charges, and prepare and maintain records of merchandise shipped.
  • Review customer orders; examine, stock, and distribute merchandise, products, and materials in the distribution center.
  • Compare nomenclature, stock numbers, and other listed information on packing slips to verify purchase orders and shipping orders.
  • Compile and perform data-entry tasks to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, and other records.
  • Use contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and other data sources to verify inventory computations against physical stock counts; adjust errors and document discrepancies with proposed corrective action.
  • Maintain manual or computerized records, including material inventory, in-process production reports, and material-location status.
  • Compile information on the receipt or disbursement of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies, and compute inventory balance, price, and cost.
  • Package materials and equipment, ensuring shipping documentation is accurate and materials are adequately protected for shipment.
  • Determine the most efficient and economical routing and mode of transportation.
  • Initiate investigations into causes of misdirected shipments, shipment damage or shortages, and freight-cost overcharges.
  • Assist with or perform other related tasks as assigned.
