Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate (GED) is required.
  • Three years of experience in one or more trades found in the Engineering Department is preferred; technical school certification may substitute for up to 18 months of experience.
  • Experience may be in electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, carpentry, or electronics.
  • A valid state-issued motor vehicle license is required.
  • Ability to stand for up to eight hours per day, walk for up to four hours per day, sit for up to two hours, lift loads up to 60 pounds, push loads up to 300 pounds, and perform bending, crouching, reaching, twisting, climbing, and manual-dexterity tasks is required.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, technical tools, and test equipment is required.
  • Ability to work in accordance with local, state, and national code requirements is required.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect, test, maintain, install, repair, and modify hospital systems, equipment, and structures.
  • Monitor and coordinate additional craftsmen's work through completion when required.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance on hospital systems, equipment, and structures.
  • Work with the supervisor to establish new preventive-maintenance routines and modify existing routines within the assigned zone.
  • Communicate and work directly with supervisory and management personnel, nurses, patients, and other staff to support the patient-care and business environment.
  • Respond professionally to staff needs and keep staff informed about the status of requested work.
  • Report code violations directly to supervisory and management personnel in Engineering.
