Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Associate of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Current licensure by the Division of Registration, Board of Respiratory Care, Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider.
  • Knowledge, experience, and competency in caring for adults in rehabilitation and geriatric age groups.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate as a trusted member of the patient care team and serve as the subject matter expert to drive patients toward their goals.
  • Provide individualized evaluation, documentation, treatment planning implementation, and goal determination under the direction of a physician.
  • Perform respiratory care including mechanical ventilator maintenance and weaning, arterial blood gases, oxygen and aerosol therapy, airway maintenance including capping and changing tracheostomy tubes, pulmonary hygiene including chest physiotherapy, cough and deep breathing, and suctioning.
  • Maintain respiratory equipment including compressed gas delivery systems and arterial blood gas instruments.
  • Dispense respiratory medication as ordered by a physician while considering drug effectiveness, side effects, and contraindications.
  • Apply geriatric and rehabilitation knowledge and skills to patient care.
