About the job

Requirements
  • Deep expertise in enterprise hardware security module platforms and the ability to design and maintain a multi-vendor strategy balancing risk mitigation, procurement agility, and operational readiness.
  • Proven ability to architect and govern large-scale certificate ecosystems spanning public certificate authorities, private certificate authorities, certificate lifecycle management platforms, and application programming interface abstraction layers across on-premises, cloud, and customer-facing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise key management platforms, cloud key management, and database encryption methodologies, with the ability to design key management services for enterprise consumption.
  • Working understanding of current and emerging post-quantum cryptography standards, hybrid approaches, and post-quantum cryptography-native hardware, with the ability to lead enterprise post-quantum cryptography readiness, crypto agility, requirements documentation, and global enablement.
  • Broad foundational mastery of cryptographic primitives, algorithms, protocols, and public key infrastructure trust models, with the ability to author and enforce enterprise cryptographic standards and translate complex requirements into actionable guidance for engineering teams.
  • At least 7 years of experience operating and governing large-scale cryptographic infrastructure, including hardware security modules, certificate authorities, and key managers, in complex hybrid multi-cloud enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-year, large enterprise security transformation programs, particularly cryptographic migrations, with accountability for delivery, distributed execution management, and executive-level reporting.
  • Direct experience evaluating, deploying, and managing relationships with hardware security module manufacturers, certificate authority and certificate lifecycle management providers, and key management vendors, including strategic consolidation, migration, and build-versus-buy decisions supported by quantified cost and effort analysis.
Responsibilities
  • Design, govern, and evolve enterprise cryptographic infrastructure, including hardware security module platforms, certificate authorities, certificate lifecycle management systems, and enterprise key management services across on-premises, cloud, and customer-facing environments.
  • Serve as the enterprise lead for post-quantum cryptography readiness by driving cross-business-unit awareness, requirements documentation, crypto-agility planning, and global enablement; track emerging standards, evaluate hybrid approaches, assess post-quantum cryptography-native hardware, and translate mandates into migration roadmaps.
  • Author, maintain, and enforce enterprise cryptographic standards and governance frameworks covering algorithms, protocols, public key infrastructure trust models, and key management practices.
  • Translate regulatory and technical requirements, including Federal Information Processing Standards, Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, and NFI public key infrastructure, into actionable guidance for engineering teams.
  • Lead multi-year cryptographic transformation programs, manage distributed execution across business units and technology teams, own delivery accountability, conduct quantified cost and effort analysis for build-versus-buy and vendor-consolidation decisions, manage strategic vendor relationships, and provide executive-level reporting on program progress and risk posture.
  • Architect abstracted, API-first cryptographic services for certificate and key management that enable backend technology portability without consumer disruption, using KMIP, PKCS#11, EST, and ACME to reduce vendor lock-in and provide scalable self-service cryptographic operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with federal, Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, Federal Information Processing Standards, and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard cryptographic requirements, including NFI public key infrastructure and regulated cryptographic deployment constraints.
  • Experience architecting abstracted, API-first certificate and key management services that enable backend technology portability without consumer disruption and avoid vendor lock-in, with familiarity with KMIP, PKCS#11, EST, and ACME protocols.
