Responsibilities
  • The Industrial Engineering Co-op Student will support the development of plant and equipment layouts, capacity plans, accident prevention measures, sequencing of operations and work flows
  • Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and technological developments for integration into the production process and service operations
  • Assists with designing, maintaining, and optimizing the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel
  • Conducts basic work flow design and analysis
  • Develops simple models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leaders
  • The Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Student will support the development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies
  • Participates as a member of our production team to support the integration of technical solutions across multiple disciplines
  • Supports the development, identification and implementation of conceptual designs and maintenance of the program architecture for build
  • Participates in the implementation of manufacturing plans
  • Investigates technical problems
  • Participates in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies
  • Interfaces with IPTs and internal customers to develop products, skills, knowledge and experience
  • The Reliability and Maintainability Systems Engineering Co-op Student will learn and perform Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) tasks such as Predictions, Allocations, Failure Mode & Effect Analyses, R&M testing, and Failure Review, Corrective Action and Maintainability Analysis
  • R&M engineer may also perform maintenance, health and optimization of engineering systems which track, monitor, report, and statistically model design changes
  • Candidate can expect to engage in initiatives to streamline inefficiencies through the use of automation and assist in analyses of Product Assurance and System Effectiveness
  • The Systems Engineering Co-op Student within the Philadelphia Design Center (PDC) will assist in the development and integration of complex systems across the Boeing company
  • This role involves system requirements definition and documentation, verification planning, validation execution and cross-functional collaboration on design solutions and analyses
  • Structures Engineering Co-op Student: Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design
  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
  • Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
  • Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
  • Wire Installation and Wire Design Engineering Co-op Student: Develops and maintains basic cable/wire harness and equipment detail and assembly designs
  • Assists with engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests)
  • Develops and maintains basic electrical product detail, assembly and installation designs (e.g., equipment racks, power panels, cable routing and geometry, antennas)
  • Follows documented processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities
  • Collects data to support the development of statements of work
  • Assists in data gathering of supplier capabilities
  • Reviews functional and physical input used in the development of integrated design and system architecture

Boeing stock faces potential 24% drop if market turns, still carries 12-month operating loss

Boeing stock trades near $206, down 11.3% over the past month and 10.6% over the past year, whilst the S&P 500 returned 18.5%. The decline comes despite no recent negative earnings reports or major setbacks. Boeing's commercial airplane unit delivered 171 airplanes in Q2 2026, its highest quarterly total since 2018. Revenue over the trailing twelve months reached $94.0 billion, up 24.8%. However, the company still posts a twelve-month operating loss, with operating margin at -5.4%. Analysis of 15 market shocks since 2007 shows Boeing fell an average of 24% from peak to trough, versus 16% for the S&P 500. The deepest drop was 72% during the 2020 COVID-19 crash. More than six years later, Boeing remains approximately 39% below its pre-crash high.

Boeing cuts operating loss by half as it delivers 171 planes in Q2 2026

Boeing shares trade at $208.87, down 12% over the past year, as the company continues to lose money building aeroplanes. However, the rate of loss is shrinking rapidly. Operating margin improved to negative 5.4% over the past twelve months, up from negative 12.4% a year earlier. The second quarter of 2026 turned positive at 0.6%. Boeing delivered 171 aeroplanes in that quarter, its highest total since 2018. The commercial aeroplane unit showed a negative 2.7% operating margin in Q2 2026. Programme cash margins on the 737 and 787 run slightly above breakeven, with management attributing this to pricing drags that dissipate as deliveries continue. Management expects to ramp 737 production to 52 aeroplanes per month, with no supply-chain constraints anticipated. The Air Force One programme took a $280 million charge in Q2 2026.

Boeing upgraded to Buy by Argus on Q2 cash flow turnaround and $715B backlog

Argus upgraded Boeing from Hold to Buy on 11 August, citing the company's long-term prospects in commercial aerospace. Analyst Kristina Ruggeri set a price target of $265, representing over 26% upside potential. Boeing reported $24.6 billion in Q2 2026 revenue, up 8% from $22.7 billion in Q2 2025, driven by 171 commercial deliveries. The company posted $1.4 billion in operating cash flow and $631 million in free cash flow. Management expects full-year free cash flow between $1 billion and $3 billion. Boeing's total backlog reached $715 billion, including $597 billion for commercial airplanes covering more than 6,200 aircraft. Concerns remain over profitability and high leverage, with a debt-to-equity ratio of approximately 7.5x. The company held $45.9 billion in debt and $20 billion in cash at quarter-end.

Boeing secures $3B revolving credit facility, extends $7B in existing agreements to 2029-2030

Boeing has secured a new $3 billion, 364-day revolving credit facility, replacing an expiring agreement of the same size. The facility, arranged by Citibank and JPMorgan Chase Bank, runs until 23 August 2027, with options to convert borrowings into term loans or extend for another year. The agreement requires Boeing to maintain minimum liquidity of $5 billion and limits consolidated debt to 60% of total capital. Interest rates are tied to Boeing's credit rating, ranging from Term SOFR plus 1.250% to 1.700% annually. Boeing also amended two existing five-year credit agreements worth $4 billion and $3 billion, extending them to May 2030 and August 2029 respectively. Both now include the same $5 billion minimum liquidity requirement.

Boeing vs. Joby Aviation: Legacy giant with $89.5B revenue battles electric air taxi startup
