Boeing Q2 revenue up 8% to $24.56B, beats estimates as aerospace stocks show strong quarter

Boeing reported Q2 revenues of $24.56 billion, up 8% year on year and exceeding analyst expectations by 1.7%. However, the aerospace manufacturer missed earnings per share estimates despite the revenue beat. Chief executive officer Kelly Ortberg said the company is making progress executing its plan, with more stable operations and certification programmes remaining on track. Boeing's focus has been on restoring trust through sustained emphasis on safety, quality, and on-time performance. The stock has risen 7.2% since the earnings announcement and currently trades at $226.65. Boeing's results came as part of a strong Q2 for aerospace stocks, which collectively beat revenue estimates by 1.7% and provided next quarter guidance 5.5% above expectations.

Boeing shares up 7.4% YTD as defence wins and record $597B backlog fuel turnaround hopes

Boeing shares have gained 7.4% year to date, matching the Zacks Aerospace-Defense industry's growth. The company's commercial aviation segment delivered 171 airplanes in Q2 2026, up 14% year over year and the highest quarterly total since 2018. Segment revenues rose 8% to $11.75 billion. Boeing secured 246 net commercial orders during the quarter and ended with a record $597 billion backlog. The 737 programme began transitioning production to 47 airplanes per month. In defence, the US Navy MQ-25A Stingray and Air Force T-7A Red Hawk both achieved Milestone C, clearing them for low-rate initial production. Boeing also signed agreements with Polish entities to support maintenance of Poland's AH-64E Apache helicopter fleet.

Archer Aviation acquires three Boeing businesses for 19.75% stake in exchange

Archer Aviation has agreed to acquire three Boeing businesses — Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid — in exchange for newly issued Archer stock. When the deal closes, Boeing will receive a 19.75% stake in Archer's Class A shares. The acquisition significantly bolsters Archer's defense business. Insitu, a military-drone company, generates over $200 million in annual revenue, compared to Archer's $300,000 in 2025. Wisk has completed more than 1,700 eVTOL flight tests, whilst SkyGrid provides air traffic management. The deal diversifies Archer beyond its urban air taxi ambitions, though it comes at the cost of shareholder dilution. Boeing also holds two warrants that could cause further dilution. Archer's shares initially surged 25% on the news before settling to a 13% gain.

Boeing's 737 MAX 7 wins FAA approval, but Southwest won't fly it until 2027

The US Federal Aviation Administration certified Boeing's 737 MAX 7 on Monday, nearly a decade after the company first expected approval. The smallest version of Boeing's bestselling jet faced years of additional scrutiny following two fatal MAX 8 crashes in 2018 and 2019, plus a 2024 mid-air panel incident. Boeing shares jumped as much as 8% on the news. The certification unlocks revenue for Boeing, which has roughly 30 to 40 MAX 7s and MAX 10s already built and awaiting delivery. Manufacturers collect most of a plane's price upon delivery. However, Southwest Airlines, the plane's launch customer, won't begin revenue service until 2027. The airline needs to upgrade extra-legroom seats on its own aircraft before they can fly. Boeing already has 282 orders for the MAX 7, with FAA approval for the larger MAX 10 expected to follow.

Archer acquires Boeing's drone and air-taxi units for $200M+ revenue and 19.75% stake

Archer Aviation will acquire Boeing's Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid subsidiaries, adding a defence business with over $200 million in annual revenue operating in 35 countries. The stock rose 18% following the announcement. The acquisition brings drone hardware and autonomy software. Insitu has built more than 3,500 uncrewed aircraft systems for intelligence and surveillance, whilst Wisk has conducted over 1,700 flight tests of self-piloting eVTOL aircraft across six generations. SkyGrid contributes air-traffic-management software. Boeing will receive Archer shares representing approximately 19.75% of Class A stock, plus warrants covering roughly $100 million of shares exercisable at $13.00 and $17.88. Boeing retains access to Wisk's autonomous flight technology and gains a board seat. The transaction requires antitrust and national security clearance, with completion expected by year-end 2026.
