  • Strong organization, proactivity, problem-solving, independent work, and judgment about when to seek help or clarification.
  • Ability to learn university technology systems and software quickly, including Salesforce, MIDAS, and SurveyMonkey Apply.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding workplace with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work occasional extra hours and a flexible schedule to meet deadlines and oversee or attend evening events.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the student I-lab community and its 3,000-plus active members, including application-cycle promotion, a weekly newsletter, member Slack workspaces, event planning, and customer service for program participants in collaboration with Operations and front-desk teams.
  • Connect student members, support collaboration across Harvard Schools, and develop programming and systems that enable participants to communicate and collaborate.
  • Manage inquiries from prospective student members, develop communications to convert applicants into members, and guide students through the application and membership funnel.
  • Foster community engagement through daily interaction with students; monitor news, events, feedback, struggles, and successes; oversee and synthesize data from customer surveys, feedback, focus groups, and other sources to inform decisions, program improvements, and strategy.
  • Design and execute community pulse checks, such as short surveys and quick interviews, and translate qualitative and quantitative data into actionable recommendations.
  • Plan and execute community programming, including welcome events, end-of-term events, sub-community sessions, lunches, dinners, and other events, supporting approximately 30–40 events during the academic year.
  • Design, launch, and manage student-facing initiatives connecting HIL with the broader student community, including a Student Ambassador program.
  • Recruit, onboard, and support student ambassadors and other student leaders to extend i-lab programs across campus.
  • Administer and execute new programs and community engagement opportunities, including cross-university innovation mixers and collaborations with Harvard stakeholders and external partners.
  • Manage and oversee the Ingenuity Award program as part of the President’s Innovation Challenge, including its timeline, application process, venture evaluation process, and pitch-practice programming.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies for opportunities, events, resources, and applications, and manage the editorial calendar for Student i-lab Member communications with the HIL marketing and communications team.
  • Gather and synthesize information and resources for students, and write newsletters, event promotions, engagement tracking materials, and RSVP communications.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the student track of the President’s Innovation Challenge and Ingenuity Award finalists.
  • Communicate directly with student finalist teams to gather promotional materials and share workshop details and schedules.
  • Plan Ingenuity Award programming, including pitch sessions, orientation, and finalist announcements.
  • Track engagement in student workshops and events, including registrations, attendance, and student surveys.
  • Support the creation and execution of student-perspective marketing collateral, including handouts, guides, videos, decks, and presentations.
  • Represent HIL at internal and external events; lead or moderate founder panels and club meetings; and attend ecosystem gatherings across Harvard and Boston as a student i-lab representative.
  • Build and maintain collaborations across HIL teams, including Advising, Network Engagement, Marketing and Creative, Technology, and Operations, and coordinate community initiatives around shared objectives.
  • Implement repeatable processes for cross-team collaboration and support additional HIL projects, operations, and events as needed.
  • May manage and prioritize interns' workload, performance management, and professional development.
  • Maintain an on-site presence and engage directly with colleagues and constituents.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Experience designing and executing community or membership communications, such as newsletters, campaigns, or multichannel outreach.
  • Comfort analyzing basic data and trends, including surveys, participation data, and dashboards, to inform decisions and improve programs.
