  • Ability to perform physical skills including seeing, sorting, carrying, filing, holding, squatting, standing, bending, stooping, walking, and writing.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including a personal computer and associated software applications, calculator, telephone, and copier.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and in an outdoor environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Leisure Services, Management, or a related field, plus two years of directly related experience including at least one year of supervisory experience.
  • A valid Texas Driver License, Class C, is required.
  • CPR certification must be obtained within six months of employment and maintained throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle review, and physical and human performance evaluation is required.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, organize, and schedule staff and multiple facilities for youth and adult athletics leagues, tournaments, special events, classes, camps, and other recreational and competitive sports programs.
  • Instruct or officiate classes or leagues as required.
  • Direct and manage employee and volunteer resources at indoor and outdoor program venues to ensure customer safety and satisfaction.
  • Develop program services and prepare, track, and reconcile annual budgets to meet cost-recovery targets.
  • Manage financial processes and procedures involving payroll and purchasing.
  • Determine and recommend maintenance and capital improvement solutions.
  • Determine facility and programmatic needs from customer comments and preferences and take appropriate action in response to deficiencies.
  • Select, hire, train, direct, and evaluate full-time and part-time subordinates.
  • Set work standards, monitor work progress, and inspect work upon completion.
  • Monitor and direct volunteer coaches during sports programming.
  • Operate the City's purchasing, human resources information system, and financial systems.
  • Analyze and report key budgetary and program measures.
  • Apply process-improvement tools and methods to solve problems.
  • Facilitate process teams in developing and recommending improvements.
  • Determine program marketing and logistics.
  • Prepare and facilitate presentations for management, citizen groups, committees, boards, and corporate venues.
