- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and balance for prolonged periods, use full body motion, and handle or lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must have sufficient manual dexterity to operate a computer and keyboard at 50 words per minute, calculator, telephone, copier, and fax.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to travel between clinics.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vitals, past and present medical history, and current medication lists.
- Explain allergy testing and treatment protocols to patients.
- Administer subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections.
- Conduct accurate spirometry testing.
- Perform testing and treatment according to the clinic's protocols and safety measures.
- Use the electronic health record system to record accurate patient health information.
- Greet, welcome, and direct patients and visitors.
- Assist with incoming and outgoing phone calls and provide accurate information.
- Track clinical inventory and resupply it as needed.
- Ensure end-of-day reports and logs are accurate and complete.
- Follow HIPAA rules and regulations, including confidentiality requirements for patient information.
- Follow OSHA requirements, including universal precautions and sharps disposal guidelines.
- Cross-train in front- and back-office duties to provide full-cycle clinic support.
- Become proficient in the practice management functions of the electronic health record.
- Obtain CT authorizations.
- Scan patient documents and medical records and attach them to charts.
- Check patients in and obtain correct demographic, primary care provider, contact, and insurance information.
- Check patients out, including taking payment.
- Communicate a patient's out-of-pocket maximum.
- Send end-of-day emails to appropriate parties.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Enroll patients in their treatment of choice.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or degree.
- At least one year of Medical Assistant experience.
- At least one year of Medical Receptionist experience.
- A Medical Assistant certificate, vocational nurse license, or related experience.
- Current CPR certification.
