Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director of Revenue Generation, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving will assist in carrying out designated duties and responsibilities for the Rice Athletics Owl Club annual giving program. This individual will be involved with the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all Owl Club fundraising efforts in support of Rice’s 350 student-athletes. Primary responsibilities involve building relationships through one-on-one discussions with assigned prospects and donors, developing and executing annual giving strategies, designing proposals, and closing Owl Club gifts with an emphasis on gifts of $500 or more. The assistant director will help develop and design electronic, social media, and print messaging for Owl Club solicitations as part of the overall annual appeal strategy and collaborate with the athletics development team on developing fundraising strategies.
Workplace Requirements:
On campus position: This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- One or more (1+) year of related experience
Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
Skills:
- Must be able to correspond professionally both in writing and orally
- Good organizational and time management skills
Essential Functions:
- Manages a defined portfolio of Owl Club donors with responsibility for renewal, upgrade, and retention within assigned giving tiers, emphasizing leadership gifts of $500 or more
- Cultivates relationships and solicits annual gifts through one-on-one visits, calls, and proposals with a focus on closing leadership-level commitments
- Educates prospects and donors on the Owl Club Annual Fund and benefit structure
- Ensures donors receive benefits earned through their giving level, including tickets, parking, and hospitality access
- Makes outbound phone calls to Rice fans, staff, students, and other community members
- Prioritizes solicitation based on data analysis, prepares background information, and engages volunteers to advance solicitation priorities
- Tracks and analyzes results of development activities to determine outreach effectiveness
- Meets individual goals for donor touchpoints and fundraising results as established by management
- Monitors, analyzes, and reports on overall fundraising results to internal and external constituencies as needed
- Maintains accurate donor records and activity notes in the CRM system
- Supports and staffs Owl Club donor events including game-day hospitality and stewardship functions
- Performs all other duties as assigned
