Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal technology training in an American Medical Association-approved school.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Certification by the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists as a Mammography Technologist before completion of the probationary period.
  • Ability to operate mammography imaging equipment and computer systems safely and proficiently.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities
  • Independently operate all mammography equipment and adhere to proper imaging techniques.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report malfunctions to supervisors or service personnel.
  • Schedule, begin, complete, and cancel exams in the Radiology Information System.
  • Use the Radiology Information System and Picture Archiving and Communication System proficiently for daily workflow.
  • Review imaging orders for accuracy and ensure appropriate exam selection based on patient signs and symptoms; seek clarification when needed.
  • Explain procedures clearly to patients, assess clinical history, and position patients appropriately.
  • Provide patient care with a focus on safety and error reduction.
  • Perform prescribed quality control checks and alert appropriate staff to any system or equipment malfunction.
  • Adhere to departmental radiation safety policies, including proper shielding.
