Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 2 years of CNC machining and computer-aided manufacturing programming experience in fast-paced creative production workshops is required.
  • Working knowledge of Fusion 360 CAM and Rhino is required; Grasshopper or a similar tool is a plus.
  • The technician must be able to execute complex machining operations, including multi-operation setups and two-sided machining.
  • The technician must be able to translate 3D models, shop drawings, and technical documentation into production-ready machine workflows.
  • Basic understanding of materials, tooling, feeds, speeds, fixturing, and fabrication methods is required.
  • Experience working with wood, MDF, plywood, plastics, foams, acrylics, laminates, and specialty sheet goods is required.
  • Hands-on experience with laser cutting and 3D printing workflows, including file preparation, setup, and troubleshooting, is required.
  • Working knowledge of thermoforming, plexiglass polishing, fabrication, assembly, and material preparation methods is required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based workflows, especially Excel, is required.
  • The technician must be available to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends during peak fabrication periods.
  • The technician must be physically capable of lifting and handling oversized sheet goods.
  • The technician must be eligible to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Create, modify, and troubleshoot CNC toolpaths using Fusion 360 CAM and related shop workflows.
  • Translate Rhino models, drawings, and project documentation into accurate, production-ready machine workflows.
  • Run approved CNC programs and digital fabrication files across assigned equipment.
  • Support CNC setup, material loading, tool changes, and machine preparation.
  • Support CNC machining strategies for nested sheet-good, multi-operation, and two-sided workflows.
  • Select and adjust CNC tooling, feeds, speeds, fixturing, and machining parameters with guidance as needed.
  • Prototype, test, and refine fabrication approaches for assigned work under department direction.
  • Operate Homag, Weeke, laser, 3D printing, thermoforming, and related equipment in accordance with shop standards.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot programming, tooling, or machine-related issues.
  • Inspect digitally fabricated components for accuracy, finish quality, and alignment with design intent.
  • Collaborate with Project and Production Managers and Technical Designers to align scope, schedule, and shop capacity.
  • Support digital fabrication file preparation through review, flattening, batching, labeling, and design coordination.
  • Flag missing, conflicting, or incomplete design information before machine production begins.
  • Support fabrication means, methods, and production strategies for complex builds.
  • Execute assigned machine queues as directed by department and production leadership.
  • Communicate production status and flag capacity, schedule, tooling, machine, material, or consumable concerns.
  • Participate in pre-production planning and post-project reviews to support execution and improve workflows.
  • Support peak-period morning and afternoon shift coverage, extended hours, evenings, or weekends when workload requires.
  • Collaborate across departments and take on tasks as needed to support overall shop capacity.
  • Maintain organized CAM files, machine settings, handoff notes, reports, and production documentation.
  • Support machine incident reports, production reports, and project-based material usage tracking.
  • Support development of department standards, standard operating procedures, training materials, and documentation systems.
  • Reinforce standards across programming, setup, file organization, and production handoffs.
  • Coordinate material workflows, including sheet staging, nesting priorities, and machine readiness.
  • Monitor tooling, materials, and consumables, proactively flagging shortages and recurring issues.
  • Utilize CutRite and material management systems to support workflow optimization and material efficiency.
  • Support preventive maintenance and upkeep of CNC and related equipment, ensuring machines remain production-ready.
  • Support maintenance, repairs, service visits, and equipment priorities with the Equipment and Facilities Manager and Leads.
  • Stay current with relevant digital fabrication tools, materials, and production methods.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all shop safety protocols.
Desired Qualifications
  • A background in industrial design, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with Homag or Weeke systems, CutRite, WoodWop, WoodCAD|CAM, or Intellistore is preferred.
  • Forklift or hi-lo experience, or willingness to be trained and authorized, is preferred.
