Quality Inspector
About the job
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Three to five years of quality inspection experience is required.
- Blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and metrology background or experience are required.
- Knowledge of PPAP and GP-12 / Safe Launch is required.
- Knowledge of calendar, email, internet, and spreadsheet software is required.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks and Microsoft Access is required.
- Inspect incoming raw materials using sampling plans, approved engineering prints, and instruments and software within the inspection/metrology lab.
- Verify specified dimensions of products or materials during incoming and in-process inspections.
- Perform first-piece inspections and reporting.
- Prepare customer and supplier PPAP dimensional layouts.
- Examine defective parts to determine the cause of defects.
- Inspect products to print specifications and verify conformance.
- Maintain records of inspection and testing results.
- Assist with dock audits and process audits.
- Support the quality, health, safety, and environment zero-defect culture.
- Support the Quality, Production, PPE, and Maintenance teams.
- Use inspection tooling such as calipers, scales, optical comparators, micrometers, plug gauges, microscopes, and thread gauges.
- Program and operate coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
- Maintain, control, and calibrate gauges, including measurement system analysis (MSA).
- Conduct process capability studies.
- Develop master bubble drawings and inspection plans, and ensure revision control.
- Ensure effective product containment activities when required.
- Organize on-site sorting activities, internally or through a third party, when required.
- Assist with GP-12 / Safe Launch activities.
- Support compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 / 45001.
- Three to five years of experience in a similar manufacturing industry is preferred.
