Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in general business, insurance and risk management, or paralegal studies from an accredited college or university, or an accepted equivalent of four additional years of relevant experience or an associate's degree plus two additional years of relevant experience.
  • Zero to two years of experience.
  • Credentials must be obtained before the employment start date.
  • Ability to support diversity, equity, and inclusiveness and contribute to a respectful, positive work environment.
Responsibilities
  • Administer routine property, automobile, liability, and workers' compensation claims through their full life cycle from initiation to resolution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for claims guidance and actively pursue subrogation recovery.
  • Gather documentation to support tort investigations while collaborating with campus partners, UNLV General Counsel, the Attorney General's Office, and the University Police Department.
  • Manage the UNLV fleet insurance and movable equipment schedule to ensure appropriate coverage, maintain accuracy, and prevent excess premium charges.
  • Log major campus events for risk review and generate loss runs.
  • Collaborate on risk analysis to identify mitigation strategies, safety improvements, and training opportunities.
  • Manage credentialing verifications for the Kerkorian School of Medicine.
  • Provide operational coverage during team absences.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development in risk management.
  • Execute special projects and overflow tasks as assigned.
  • Use campus values to guide decisions and actions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in a higher education or public-sector environment with exposure to regulatory and institutional risk protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, Fire Life Safety, workers' compensation, and public entity terminology and concepts.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and risk assessment and claim management tools.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and time management skills, with the ability to balance independent work with team collaboration.
  • Ability to interpret insurance policies and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to contribute to risk awareness across the institution.
  • A preferred Associate in Insurance certificate, or the ability to obtain it within one year after hire.
