Requirements
  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current New York State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist upon hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with appropriate continuing education credits upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Perform CT exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders and complying with Imaging Sciences department and governing-body requirements.
  • Perform I-stats and pregnancy tests, start IVs, scan patients safely and efficiently, inject IV contrast, prepare oral contrast, complete associated paper and computer work, and discharge patients with appropriate post-CT instructions.
  • Identify patient service requirements and educate patients and families about procedures and treatments.
  • Prepare patients for radiological and CT procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into position, and adjusting controls to set exposure factors.
  • Apply learned methodologies according to established policies and procedures.
  • Produce high-quality images and prepare and present them, with pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and maintain CT image production and quality according to established standards, orders, protocols, and procedures.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques (ALARA) using beam-restrictive devices, patient shielding, knowledge of exposure factors, and automatic exposure controls.
  • Perform and evaluate equipment quality-control measurements.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and notify appropriate personnel to maintain performance.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, and adhere to safety policies.
  • May train new employees or lead day-to-day work activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
