What critics are saying

Foxconn unveils three reference EVs, including a kei-class truck, bringing its range to 12 models

Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) unveiled three reference electric vehicles on Friday at Hon Hai Tech Day 2026 in Taipei. The models target under-penetrated markets and bring the group's EV range to 12. The MODEL A+ and MODEL K+ are SUVs, and the MODEL K is a compact truck for Japan's kei-class market. The A+ targets the fast-growing B-segment SUV market, while the K+ draws on Japan's 1970s and 1980s city pop era to appeal to younger buyers. The K aims at last-mile and mobility services. "The new reference EVs join Foxconn's emerging ecosystem in electromobility," said Jun Seki, Foxconn's chief strategy officer for EV. Foxconn offers the designs to automotive clients through its contract design and manufacturing service.

Foxconn unveiled the NVIDIA DSX POD, a factory-built reference design that lets partners preintegrate NVIDIA Vera Rubin rack-scale AI infrastructure in modular containers and validate it before shipping. A 20-metre wall shows components through to system integration. "Foxconn is transforming into a technology manufacturing platform service provider," said chairman Young Liu. Other zones cover robotics, humanoids, and precision manufacturing. NVIDIA, Google, and Schneider Electric spoke on AI infrastructure, and a children's pavilion opens for the first time.

Mitsubishi Fuso and Foxconn set Fuso Bus launch date.

Mitsubishi Fuso and Foxconn set Fuso Bus launch date. Fuso Bus gives Foxconn a half share in an operating bus maker, tying its electric vehicle ambitions to public transport * October 27, 2026 Mitsubishi Fuso and Foxconn plan to launch Fuso Bus, their equally owned bus joint venture, on 2 November 2026, subject to the deal closing. From its Kawasaki headquarters, the new company will develop, build, sell and service both internal combustion engine and zero-emission buses for customers in Japan and abroad. Vehicles will be built in Toyama, at the plant now run by Mitsubishi Fuso Bus Manufacturing. When the partners first unveiled the venture in January 2026, they presented it as a way to speed up decarbonisation and the development of public transport. Katsuto Kora, Head of Mitsubishi Fuso Bus and Chairman of the Toyama manufacturing arm, will become Representative Director and Chief Executive. Junichi Yamamoto, now Senior Manager for bus business strategy, is set to serve as Chief Financial Officer, with both appointments subject to board and shareholder approvals. Foxconn will fill three of the five non-executive seats with Jun Seki, Philip Huang and Sam Kung, against two for Mitsubishi Fuso, Xiaohui Du and Patrick Burghardt. Counting Kora, who joins the board as Representative Director, each partner supplies three directors, matching the equal ownership. Foxconn counts electric vehicles among its priority industries, and the venture gives it a half share in an operating bus maker. Mitsubishi Fuso, part of the Archion Group, brings a customer base spanning around 170 countries and regions, a ready route to international sales.
