Registered Behavioral Technician
About the job
- Complete a minimum of 40 hours of intensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis, pass a competency assessment administered by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, and pass the Registered Behavior Technician exam through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have experience working with children, adolescents, or young adults with developmental disabilities and/or unique learning needs.
- Hold an active Registered Behavior Technician credential.
- Have knowledge of assent-based applied behavior analysis, proactive intervention strategies, recognizing assent withdrawal, principles of reinforcement, and developmental processes of children and adolescents.
- Have interpersonal skills to manage crisis situations.
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft products and other technology.
- Be able to communicate orally and in writing with clients, parents or caregivers, school personnel, and agency staff.
- Be able to work independently and make decisions within the scope of practice.
- Be able to sit or work at a computer for prolonged periods, lift up to 35 pounds, and perform repetitive physical activity such as data entry.
- Communicate effectively with Board-Certified Behavior Analysts and Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts.
- Collect data accurately and implement programs as specified by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst.
- Use a computer or other device and behavioral software to prepare documents and maintain client records.
- Follow guidance from senior-level staff to enhance professional development.
- Engage with clients while remaining aware of their location.
- Collect accurate data while interacting with the client.
- Implement skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction plans developed by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
- Collect data and implement assessments, such as stimulus preference assessments, under Board-Certified Behavior Analyst supervision.
- Receive supervision for at least 5% of the hours providing direct therapy each week.
- Engage in behavior analytic professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
