Requirements
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience with Apache Camel, preferably using Java Domain-Specific Language, and Spring Boot microservices.
  • Experience deploying and operating services on Red Hat OpenShift or an equivalent Kubernetes platform.
  • Hands-on experience with 3Scale API Management, including API definition, policy configuration, security, and basic developer portal capabilities.
  • Strong Java development skills, including experience with unit and integration testing frameworks such as JUnit and Camel Test Kit.
  • Understanding of resilience patterns including circuit breakers, retries, and timeouts, using tools such as Resilience4j or Camel error handlers.
  • Familiarity with Kafka connectivity from Camel, including the camel-kafka component.
Responsibilities
  • Build Apache Camel routes and microservices on Spring Boot to implement integration flows defined in low-level designs.
  • Implement Enterprise Integration Patterns, including content-based routing, aggregation, splitting, and transformation, within Apache Camel.
  • Configure and expose APIs through 3Scale, including API definitions, security policies using API keys or OAuth, rate limiting, and versioning.
  • Containerize and deploy services to OpenShift, including health checks, scaling, and resilience features such as circuit breakers and timeouts.
  • Implement logging, tracing, and monitoring for Camel services using tools such as Hawtio, Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing.
  • Implement error handling, retries, and compensation logic within Camel routes according to design standards.
  • Support integration testing, including contract testing of exposed APIs and route-level unit and integration tests.
  • Collaborate with Kafka and Azure engineers on message contracts at the HIP boundary.
