Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and compassion for older adults.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must possess a valid Medication Technician certificate within the state of Florida.
Responsibilities
  • Administer medications according to physician orders recorded on the medication administration record.
  • Document administered medications on the medication administration record and verify documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Conduct change-of-shift reports with incoming and outgoing personnel.
  • Maintain security of the medication cart and narcotic keys, and conduct narcotic counts at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Provide necessary care and services to assigned residents and assist other caregivers as needed.
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, eating, and ambulation or mobility.
  • Use safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility.
  • Support the resident-centered activities program.
  • Care for sensory enhancement devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.
  • Complete housekeeping tasks, including bed-making, linen changes, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning bathrooms.
  • Wash residents' laundry as needed.
  • Escort residents and coordinate internal transportation needs.
  • Assist residents with personal correspondence and telephone usage when requested.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the Wellness Director or charge nurse.
  • Conduct room checks and resident rounds.
  • Monitor environmental safety hazards.
  • Assist with dining tasks, including escorting residents to the dining room, setting up, cleaning tables, serving meals, and bussing tables.
  • Assist residents without swallowing difficulty with eating.
  • Respond promptly and calmly to emergencies and immediately report them to the charge nurse.
  • Attend staff meetings and mandatory in-services.
  • Document provision of services on company forms.
  • Follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding complaints, problems, and concerns.
  • Communicate with physicians and third-party specialists, including homecare providers, laboratories, and hospice professionals.
  • Copy special paperwork or forms.
  • Collaborate with associates in other departments to ensure necessary care and services are provided.
  • Participate in assigned projects or committees and perform related duties.
