  • A Master’s degree in biology or a related discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Two years of higher education teaching experience in courses including nutritional science courses is preferred.
  • One or more years teaching college-level Anatomy and Physiology classes with laboratory, or equivalent experience such as IB or AP, is preferred.
  • Experience developing courses in a science department and demonstrating teaching strategies that address the needs of a diverse student population, including students with different learning styles, is preferred.
  • Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, such as Blackboard, online instruction, or other modalities or software, is preferred.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
  • Applicants must submit a cover letter and current resume; the resume must include three current professional references with titles, email addresses, and telephone numbers.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping courses complete and up to date.
  • Work with students, peers, staff, and external agencies, including business, community, and educational organizations.
  • Perform departmental responsibilities in selecting texts and related teaching resources, and undertake other teaching and related duties established by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Teach 30 credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses within the assigned discipline, potentially in lecture, hybrid, or online formats, with day and evening schedules.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
  • Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
  • Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
  • Plan and execute program-related events.
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
  • Attend and participate in convocation and commencement ceremonies.
  • Serve on assigned committees and task forces.
  • Attend and participate in committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
