- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy Engineering with a Master's degree in Welding.
- At least 12 years of related experience; ADNOC experience is advantageous.
- Professional certification in welding engineering, such as International Welding Engineer or Certified Welding Engineer.
- American Society for Nondestructive Testing Level II certification in radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, and penetrant testing.
- Certification as an ISO 9001:2015 internal auditor.
- Certified 3.1 CSWIP is required.
- Knowledge of welding processes and welding procedure qualification in line with ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API 1104, ISO 13847, SHELL DEP, and ADNOC specifications.
- Familiarity with welding defect identification, root causes, and control measures to prevent recurrence.
- Ability to provide hands-on welding training for implementation contractor and vendor welding teams.
- Knowledge of monitoring welding repair data and welder performance.
- Ability to resolve site welding issues, including selecting welding consumables based on material groupings.
- Ability to optimize welding procedure qualification based on material standards and production thickness.
- Experience on oil and gas projects.
- Ability to work independently while exercising professional judgment and coordination skills.

- Assist in preparing quality documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans, and review construction documents for compliance with project quality requirements related to welding works.
- Monitor all phases and processes required for effective completion of welding works, including design, procurement, construction, and final handover.
- Monitor implementation of method statements and Inspection and Test Plans related to welding works and ensure records are generated on time.
- Manage inspection and testing of welding works, including monitoring QC inspectors under the role's authority.
- Monitor closeout of punch lists for incomplete welding works.
- Monitor measurement and testing instruments used for welding works to ensure they are functional and calibrated.
- Witness, review, and approve welder qualifications and Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualification Record qualifications.
- Liaise and coordinate with third-party testing and inspection companies as required.
- Perform statistical analysis and evaluation of welding test data.
- Prepare, file, and maintain test, inspection, and other quality records.
- Assist construction personnel in identifying and resolving welding-related problems and nonconformances.
- Advise the QC Manager of nonconformances, raise Non-Conformance Reports when necessary, and monitor corrective-action closeout and effectiveness.
- Assist the QC Manager with periodic audits of subcontractors and suppliers, including technical compliance audits in the welding specialization.
- Attend and witness client verification of work on site and coordinate closeout of outstanding welding-related issues.
- Assist in preparing final documents for certification.

Neom cancels The Line tunnels contracts. The 170km-long linear city is being redesigned as data centres. Neom has cancelled the contracts related to the construction of the tunnel sections of The Line in north-west Saudi Arabia, T&TI's sister publication, MEED, reports. In a stock exchange announcement filed on March 13, South Korean contractor Hyundai E&C said that Neom cancelled its contract on December 29 last year. Hyundai E&C was executing the drill-and-blast section of The Line's tunnels in a joint venture with Greece's Archirodon and South Korean counterpart Samsung C&T. The firm said its share of the joint venture was about 35%, amounting to $483m. Neom awarded contracts for constructing the mountain tunnel sections of The Line in June 2022. The drill-and-blast works were split into four packages, with two contracting teams winning two packages each. The other joint-venture team comprised Spain's FCC, the local Shibh Al-Jazira Contracting Company (Sajco) and Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation. The tunnels formed part of the infrastructure backbone of Neom's 170km The Line development, launched in January 2021. What began as Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's defining symbol of a post-oil Saudi Arabia unravelled with quiet finality over roughly two years. By April 2024, planners were reportedly being forced to cut the initial phase to just 2.4km by 2030. By July last year, with the sovereign wealth fund facing tightening liquidity, the kingdom was reported to have conducted a "strategic review" to determine whether The Line was feasible - a process described as a "recalibration" of Vision 2030. Resources are now being directed to projects essential for the Fifa World Cup 2034, Expo 2030, and critical housing, healthcare and education targets. According to media reports, the government has pivoted towards repositioning what remains of Neom as an industrial and data centre hub, leveraging the Red Sea coastline's access to seawater cooling for AI infrastructure.
