Business Development Associate
Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an experienced Business Development Associate to join our team in the Astoria, NY office. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, proactive individual with a background in environmental services to contribute to the growth of a leading company in the sustainability and compliance sector.
The Business Development Associate will be responsible for driving business growth through proactive outreach, relationship building, and strategic collaboration. The ideal candidate should have proven experience in the environmental services industry and a track record of success in business development, account management, and consultative selling. You will be expected to engage with potential clients, understand their needs, and effectively communicate how Triumvirate Environmental can help them achieve their sustainability and compliance goals.

This position reports to the General Manager and is onsite in Astoria, NY.
The First Few Months:
During the first three months, you will gain hands-on experience by working in the field with industry professionals. This will provide you with a deep understanding of Triumvirate’s business model, services, and solutions. After completing your fieldwork, you will have the exciting opportunity to temporarily relocate to our headquarters in Boston for advanced training.
While in Boston, you will receive comprehensive sales training, focusing on prospecting strategies and techniques specific to your home region. This immersive training experience is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a sales career in the environmental services industry.
Following about one month of training in Boston, we will support your relocation back to your home region, where you will apply your newly acquired expertise to drive sales growth and achieve personal success.
Essential responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior Business Development Managers (BDMs) to co-manage prospects and customers, providing high-level account management and business development support.
- Engage in strategic, consultative selling with a focus on sustainability and regulatory compliance, leveraging your knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
- Develop and grow your own book of business by targeting mid-market to enterprise-sized prospects with environmental services needs.
- Manage a portfolio of existing accounts, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and identifying new growth opportunities.
- Conduct prospect research, initiate outreach (including cold calls, emails, and networking), and follow up on leads to build a robust pipeline.
- Work closely with BDMs to schedule meetings, open new business doors, and close deals.
- Partner with internal departments to ensure seamless delivery of services, from project scoping to proposal creation, while maintaining high customer service standards.
- Cross-train across Triumvirate Environmental departments to gain a holistic understanding of the business and drive efficiency.
- Attend key account meetings with internal teams and external clients to maintain strong relationships and ensure a WOW-level service experience.
- Review invoices to verify accuracy and identify billing opportunities to enhance profitability.
- Stay current on health and safety regulations and ensure compliance on job sites and during all customer interactions.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:
- Proven business development experience, ideally in the environmental services sector, with a focus on sustainability, compliance, and regulatory services.
- Strong analytical and consultative skills, with the ability to interpret industry trends and apply them to meet client needs.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to manage relationships and collaborate effectively in a sales-driven environment.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations such as RCRA, DOT, and OSHA, as well as knowledge of relevant paperwork and compliance documentation (e.g., shipping documents, LDRs, packing slips, etc.).
- Ability to navigate complex client needs and offer tailored solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and a willingness to mentor and coach junior team members.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for building rapport and delivering persuasive, consultative sales conversations.
Basic requirements:
- BS/BA in Business, Sales, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a strong interest in pursuing a sales-related career in the environmental services industry.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally within the environmental services sector. (Completion of Triumvirate Environmental’s Sales Development Program is also an acceptable qualification.)
- Solid knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and OSHA regulations is preferred, with experience in the environmental services industry or a related field.
- Proven experience using CRM software, managing sales campaigns, and employing a structured prospecting cadence to open new business opportunities.
- Leadership experience and a demonstrated willingness to mentor and coach colleagues to foster team success.
- Exceptional listening and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and interact effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization.
- Ability to adapt quickly to change, manage shifting priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly self-motivated with a proactive attitude, able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with a knack for connecting with diverse personalities and stakeholders.
- Resourceful and able to navigate challenges and find solutions independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clear, persuasive communication.
- Valid US drivers license
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship

Pay Range
$70,000—$80,000 USD
