About the job

Requirements
  • Be a qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent qualification and demonstrated senior-level experience in financial planning and analysis, commercial finance or a comparable role.
  • Have experience in enterprise business-to-business software as a service or another recurring-revenue technology business, ideally in a high-growth or scaling environment.
  • Have deep working knowledge of software-as-a-service metrics and unit economics, including the annual recurring revenue bridge, gross revenue retention, net revenue retention, churn, customer acquisition cost, customer acquisition cost payback, lifetime value to customer acquisition cost, magic number and Rule of 40.
  • Have a proven track record owning rolling forecasts, annual budgets and integrated three-statement or driver-based models, including headcount, EBITDA and cash planning.
  • Have experience partnering with C-level and senior executives outside finance, with the credibility to challenge and influence without authority.
  • Demonstrate adoption of artificial intelligence in day-to-day finance work and understand where it adds value and where it does not.
  • Have advanced financial modelling skills in Excel or Google Sheets and hands-on experience with an enterprise performance management or planning platform.
  • Be able to conduct sophisticated analysis of complex data and translate results into a clear narrative, recommendation and presentation for a non-finance audience.
  • Be highly organised and able to run a demanding reporting calendar to deadline without sacrificing quality.
  • Have a hands-on, high-ownership approach and be comfortable with ambiguity and building processes where none exist.
  • Have excellent English language skills.
  • Be confident using business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Looker.
  • Be comfortable working with SQL and structured data models across HubSpot, Sage Intacct, BobFinance and BambooHR.
Responsibilities
  • Own the rolling forecast, annual strategic budget and long-range plan.
  • Run a disciplined planning calendar incorporating monthly operations reviews and regular Board meetings, with clear assumptions, version control and forecast accuracy tracked and improved over time.
  • Own the definition, reporting, forecasting and analysis of core software-as-a-service metrics, including the annual recurring revenue bridge, gross revenue retention, net revenue retention, churn and contraction, customer acquisition cost and payback, lifetime value to customer acquisition cost, magic number and Rule of 40.
  • Translate movements in software-as-a-service metrics into actionable insight for leadership.
  • Own the headcount forecasting model as the single source of truth for headcount and people costs, working with the Head of Human Resources and Chief Financial Officer to forecast costs, hiring plans, leavers and long-term headcount planning.
  • Model the profit and loss and cash impact of hiring scenarios and organisation design changes.
  • Forecast and analyse the full profit and loss down to EBITDA and cash, including operating expenses by function, gross software margin and services margin bridges, working capital, deferred revenue and runway.
  • Provide early warning on risks and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and cash conversion with the wider Finance team.
  • Act as the finance partner to senior executives across the business.
  • Bring an independent, commercially credible point of view, challenge assumptions constructively, and help leaders make better decisions on investment, pricing, resourcing and prioritisation.
  • Prepare financial content for operations and Board packs with supporting analysis, including performance against plan, variance narrative, scenario analysis and the outlook.
  • Present and defend the numbers clearly under scrutiny.
  • Guide the adoption of artificial intelligence across the FP&A workflow, including forecast modelling, scenario generation, variance commentary, anomaly detection, data preparation and self-service reporting.
  • Set standards for using artificial intelligence safely and effectively and continuously identify processes to automate or augment.
  • Work with forecasting and reporting systems to strengthen the data foundation behind planning and reporting, connecting customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning and human resources information systems into a single source of truth.
  • Improve forecast cycle time, data quality and self-service reporting available to the business.
