Job Title: Software Development Engineer II, Content Management Systems
Job Location: 2004 Park Place, Suite K, El Segundo, CA 90245
Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday
Duties: Develop next generation of Motor Trend’s software platforms for Motortrend.com and MotorTrend.com and key brands. Contribute to implementation of content management, databases, queues and infrastructure solutions for problems of scale on the platform. Architect and implement software applications for problems of scale and provide technical expertise and troubleshooting. Collaborate with other teams on prioritizing roadmap initiatives and to provide estimations, utilizing knowledge of architecting applications on top of high-traffic, high-availability production systems. Build multiple high-performance, stable, scalable systems that will successfully shipped to customers in production. Apply software engineering best practices to consult and lead on overall software architecture and strategy that drives high impact decisions. Enforce software development standards, best practices, and modern software development conventions. Optimize application performance by using experience with system scalability, algorithm design problem solving and complexity analysis. Remote Work Permitted.
Requirements: At least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field of study and five (5) years of experience as a Lead Developer, Web Developer, Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, or closely related occupation. Also requires at least 5 years of experience in the following:
- Building software applications for enterprise customer facing solutions;
- Developing software in at least one modern content management systems such as Strapi, Contentful, Webiny, Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla or Craft;
- Implementing Headless CMS, Graphql, Dynamo DB;
- Amazon Lambda, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, or Acquia Cloud Platform;
- Architecting applications on top of high-traffic, high-availability production systems;
- Software engineering best practices such as unit testing, design patterns, building maintainable code, and performance;
- Integration of 3rd party API’s, libraries, and frameworks;
- Third-party analytics libraries like Google Analytics and/or Adobe Analytics;
- CI/CD principles with tools such as Git, Bamboo, or Jenkins;
- Agile delivery environment; and
- Source code management using Git, Git workflows, and Git branching models.
