- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in the applicable province or state.
- Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers.
- Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community care, complex care, or long-term care are assets.
- Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management, and customer focus skills are required.
- Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge and ability to delegate to unregulated care providers.
- Maintain competencies according to governing college standards.
- Skills using computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- A current Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening completed within the last six months is required.
- Complete and ensure residents’ care assessments, service plans, and documentation are up to date, and communicate changes to the Director of Care for billings.
- Assist with scheduling residents’ care conferences and participate in conferences.
- Work closely with the Director of Care to facilitate residents’ move-ins and transfers.
- Order, safeguard, and administer drugs and narcotics in compliance with regulatory requirements and policies and procedures.
- Facilitate and provide resident and family education.
- Supervise resident self-medication assessments and audits.
- Supervise and delegate care and medication administration responsibilities to Unregulated Care Providers in compliance with applicable regulations and policies and procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, manage, and evaluate residents’ care plans with the resident or substitute decision maker, physicians, nursing and interdisciplinary teams, and contracted service providers.
- Coordinate nursing team resident-care assignments to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services to residents.
