Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong command of data structures and algorithms, including reasoning about time and space complexity in constrained environments.
  • Deep understanding of operating systems concepts, including scheduling, concurrency, interrupts, memory management, inter-process communication, real-time constraints, and real-time operating system internals.
  • Proven proficiency in modern C and C++, including C++17 and later, performance optimization, cache-aware design, and lock-free or thread-safe patterns.
  • Experience developing embedded software for digital signal processor and Arm architectures, including SIMD/vectorization, DMA, and low-power design.

  • Ability to build and maintain AI-augmented developer workflows, including prompt libraries, agent rules, retrieval-augmented context over large firmware codebases, and MCP-style tool integrations.
  • Experience applying large language models to crash triage, log summarization, root-cause analysis, and automated defect classification in complex embedded systems.
  • Interest in AI-assisted test generation and verification, including unit and integration test synthesis, fuzzing harnesses, and coverage-driven test expansion for modem software.
  • Ability to evaluate AI output critically, validate generated code against timing and memory budgets, and enforce safety and correctness in real-time firmware.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and optimize real-time embedded modem software across protocol layers, drivers, and platform services while meeting latency, memory, and power constraints.
  • Apply data-structure and algorithm design to build efficient, scalable firmware components.
  • Own end-to-end feature delivery, including requirements, architecture, implementation, unit and integration testing, on-target bring-up, and maintenance.
  • Integrate AI coding agents into daily workflows, establish agent rules and prompt patterns, and reduce development and debugging cycle time.
  • Build and maintain AI-assisted tooling for code review, static analysis, test synthesis, and automated crash and log triage over the modem codebase.
  • Debug and identify the root causes of complex, multi-layer issues on target hardware using analysis of logs, traces, and RAM dumps.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, test, and integration teams to deliver production-quality modem firmware.
  • Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and continuous improvement of engineering standards, including standards for responsible and effective use of AI in the software development lifecycle.
  • Mentor peers on embedded fundamentals and AI-native engineering techniques.

Qualcomm and Amazon ink $60B server chip deal — but will it succeed where Qualcomm failed in 2018?

Qualcomm announced Tuesday that Amazon could purchase up to $60 billion of its server chips over the next decade. The companies will co-develop customised silicon for Amazon Web Services data centres, beginning with AI inference chips. This marks Qualcomm's second attempt at the server chip market. In 2017, the company launched its Centriq 2400 processor but shut down the business within a year after failing to secure volume orders. The data centre group shrank from over 1,000 employees to about 50 by late 2018. This time, Amazon's commitment includes binding purchase agreements. Qualcomm issued Amazon warrants for 25 million shares at $161.26, which vest based on executed commercial agreements and actual chip purchases capped at $60 billion through 2036.

Samsung invests $13M in BlueStacks' GamePop Android gaming platform

BlueStacks, maker of the GamePop platform that streams Android games to televisions, has received $13 million in investment from Samsung. The funding reflects shared goals between the companies to expand mobile gaming experiences to other platforms. Intel, Qualcomm, Andreessen Horowitz and Redpoint also back the project, dubbed the "Netflix of games". BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma says they aim to bring popular mobile content to living rooms worldwide, noting a shift in gaming preferences among younger players. Last year, BlueStacks launched a compact "free version" of the device requiring a $7 monthly subscription. The Ouya competitor offers over 500 Android games. The original GamePop was discontinued shortly after the GamePop Mini launched.

Qualcomm shifts focus to data center with $15B target, quietly deprioritises laptop chip story

Qualcomm has shifted its growth narrative away from laptop chips towards data centre revenue. The company nearly doubled its non-handset revenue target to $40 billion by fiscal 2029, with over $15 billion expected from data centres and more than $24 billion from automotive and IoT combined. The Snapdragon X Series for laptops, once a flagship product, now receives minimal mention in earnings calls. Amazon partners with Qualcomm on AI inference chips as shares slip 1.3%

Amazon announced a multigeneration partnership with Qualcomm to develop AI inference chips and optical networking technology capable of 1.6 terabits per second. The company's shares fell approximately 1.3% in early trading following the news. AWS generated $42.2 billion in second-quarter revenue, up 37%, with operating income reaching $16.6 billion. Amazon reported that both its chip franchise and broader AI business surpassed $25 billion in annual revenue run rates.
