A Journeyman Carpenter Certificate from a recognized provincial training authority or registration as a Carpenter Apprentice with a recognized provincial training authority.
Formwork experience.
Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
Practical knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing as required on a project-by-project basis.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes.
Operate shop tools safely.
Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware.
Maintain, repair, and renovate residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
Mentor apprentices and other construction workers.
Prepare cost estimates for clients when required.

Demonstrates skill in the safe operation of shop tools
Measures, cuts, shapes, assembles and joins materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Builds foundations, install floor beams, lays subflooring, and erects walls and roof systems
Fits and installs trim items such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
Maintains, repairs, and renovates structures (residential, commercial, and industrial)
Mentors apprentices and other construction workers
May prepare cost estimates for clients
Qualifications
Must have a Journeyman Carpenter Certificate from a recognized provincial training authority or be a Registered Carpenter Apprentice with a recognized provincial training authority
RED SEAL certification is an asset
