Requirements
- An Associate of Applied Science or another related field, an accredited magnetic resonance imaging program, an American Medical Association-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology Program, or an accredited School of Ultrasonography is required.
- A Fingerprint Clearance Card application number is required upon hire, and a Fingerprint Clearance Card is required within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Employees must obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their department leader.
- Diagnostic/X-ray requires current Radiologic Technologist certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and an Arizona Department of Health Radiology Technologist license.
- Computed Tomography requires American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Computed Tomography certification or experience allowing the employee to receive an Arizona state Computed Tomography license, as well as Arizona Department of Health Services certification as a Radiologic Technologist and Computed Tomography technologist.
- Mammography requires current registry as a Mammography Technologist, meeting American College of Radiology certification criteria, and Arizona Department of Health Services Mammography certification.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging requires current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registry in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- Ultrasound requires American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification with at least two specialties.
- Nuclear Medicine requires Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board certification and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Nuclear Medicine certification.
- At least 3 years of experience in an acute care setting is required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a team lead or supervisory role is required.
- Employees must understand computers and demonstrate competence using computers and basic software programs.
- Employees must stay current with and comply with state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies affecting their area of responsibility.
- Employees must complete mandatory modules and required job-specific training within the specified time frame.

Responsibilities
- Perform imaging procedures in two or more modalities while providing leadership to a team of technologists.
- Act as a resource and first point of escalation for staff, patients, and families.
- Serve as a procedure specialist and subject matter expert on modality processes and procedures.
- Lead day-to-day department operations and ensure efficient departmental workflow.
- Maintain the department work schedule, workflow, and staff schedules.
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluation, issue handling, and problem solving for the team.
- Obtain patient history and educate patients and families about procedures, treatment, risks, and prevention.
- Position patients appropriately and perform radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines.
- Develop and evaluate radiographic results for technical quality, including density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
- Apply learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures.
- Perform prescribed procedures in accordance with established policies and maintain infection-prevention standards.
- Explain standard procedures and answer patient questions.
- Prepare, clean, adjust, inspect, and maintain equipment.
- Produce quality images and prepare and present them with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and archive imaging data as required.
- Collaborate with physicians and other medical professionals.
- Operate computed tomography scanners, produce cross-sectional images, and set technical parameters to demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
- Perform mammography examinations, including screening and diagnostic studies, and participate in advanced procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, and drainages.
- Operate magnetic resonance scanners, adjust scanning parameters, start intravenous lines or catheters, administer and monitor intravenous contrast or sedation, and complete pacemaker and other safety screenings.
- Perform diagnostic and mobile radiographic procedures, set up rooms and equipment, position patients, capture skeletal images, process exposed film, and create compact-disc copies.
- Perform sonographic examinations, operate ultrasound equipment, use transabdominal technology, and assist with vascular ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-guided biopsies.
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures, prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate imaging equipment, evaluate equipment quality control, and document radiopharmaceutical handling for regulatory compliance.
- Adhere to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety and comply with hospital and departmental policies.
- Troubleshoot equipment and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
- Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of supplies and materials.
- Participate in compliance training, quality-improvement processes, unit meetings, and ongoing in-service and educational seminars.
- Ensure examination results meet facility quality-assurance standards before release for interpretation.
- Provide oversight for assessing examinations for technical and image quality and accuracy.
- Document incidental findings affecting patient safety or care and communicate them to the interpreting physician.
- Maintain the accuracy of facility reports, database records, and logs.
- Maintain current knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and imaging equipment.
- Participate in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidence-based practice and research.
- Mentor and educate technologists and students and assist with orientation and training of new staff.
Desired Qualifications
- Registered Vascular Technologist certification is preferred.
