Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field is required.
  • Laboratory experience in academic, clinical, or research settings is required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices is required.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare laboratory materials, reagents, cultures, and equipment for biology and chemistry teaching laboratories.
  • Prepare and standardize solutions.
  • Accurately prepare, sterilize, and pour Luria Broth agar plates, including antibiotic selection plates, using aseptic techniques.
  • Operate autoclaves to sterilize glassware, media, and biohazardous waste.
  • Inspect prepared media and poured plates for sterility, contamination, and appropriate consistency.
  • Monitor, track, and restock media supplies, reagents, and laboratory consumables.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory benches and equipment.
  • Properly label, date, and log all prepared materials and sterilization cycles.
  • Set up and break down laboratory sessions in accordance with course schedules.
  • Assist faculty during laboratory sessions as needed.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate repairs.
  • Enforce Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, manage hazardous waste disposal, and maintain Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Provide technical assistance to undergraduate students.
  • Support faculty-led research and experiential learning initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry.
  • Experience supporting undergraduate teaching laboratories and research.
