Requirements
  • Must satisfactorily complete sexual assault training to become a certified rape crisis counselor and attend at least 10 additional training hours per year.
  • Must have computer and typing skills to complete statistics, maintain case files, and communicate by email.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and carry supplies to and from upper levels of the building.
  • Must be able to drive a 12-passenger vehicle.
Responsibilities
  • Read and follow The Salvation Army Employee Handbook and the Anew Center policy and procedure manual.
  • Provide services to children and families, including supportive interventions at home or in the office, group counseling, educational sessions, case management, advocacy, accompaniment, crisis intervention, intake assessments, transportation, information and referrals, follow-up services, and emergency crisis evaluations as requested.
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and implementing curriculum and activities.
  • Assist with facilitating children's support groups and other related groups as assigned.
  • Assist with implementing educational workshops and planning supportive family interventions.
  • Conduct domestic violence education sessions for clients referred by child protective services and others interested in the services.
  • Assist with transportation using the agency vehicle so children and families can attend program activities.
  • Assist with monitoring supplies, planning and preparing activities, shopping, and setting up and cleaning up for groups.
  • Assist with phone calls, home visits, intakes, advocacy and accompaniment, and curriculum development.
  • Complete program statistics.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings, trainings, and seminars as directed.
  • Provide domestic violence and rape crisis services in person and via the hotline, and ensure follow-up.
  • Keep accurate and updated records, and submit reports and statistics as required by The Salvation Army and program funders.
  • Inform all clients about Office of Victim Services Compensation and complete applications for eligible clients.
  • Attend inter-agency, coalition, and community meetings to facilitate services to clients.
  • Communicate information relevant to program operations to the immediate supervisor.
  • Act as a mandated reporter and report suspected child abuse or neglect to the child protection services mandatory reporter hotline.
  • Provide coverage for other shifts when required for the agency's 24-hour services.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as directed by the immediate supervisor, Program Director, or Commanding Officers.
