Requirements
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in good standing with the North Carolina Board of Nursing or current licensure as a Physician Assistant in good standing with the North Carolina Medical Board.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency licensure.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
Responsibilities
  • Provide outpatient medical care in partnership with one or more supervising physicians.
  • Practice medical care for each patient visit.
  • Complete pertinent history and physical examinations.
  • Document the chief complaint, history of present illness, pertinent review of systems, and physical examination in the electronic health record.
  • Review and update past medical history, family history, social history, medications, and allergies in the electronic health record.
  • Review vital signs.
  • Review results and reports from prior orders.
  • Place new orders.
  • Perform and document procedures.
  • Administer medications and immunizations.
  • Determine and document the assessment and plan.
  • Prescribe medications.
  • Provide patient education, guidance, and counseling.
  • Arrange plans for follow-up.
  • Sign electronic health record encounters within timelines established by policies and procedures.
  • Respond to related patient questions or needs arising after an encounter.
  • Adhere to established scheduling templates when providing patient care.
  • Participate in quality-metric directives and departmental quality-improvement projects.
  • Attend practitioners’ meetings, clinical-site meetings, and practice-wide meetings regularly.
  • Read emails and other organizational communication platforms.
  • Complete peer review.
  • Comply with Clinical Quality Measures expectations.
  • Use resources to verify standards of care.
  • Modify workflows as determined by the department to attain quality-improvement objectives.
  • Consistently document activities related to quality-improvement projects.
  • Participate in the on-call patient rotation.
  • Remain available to receive phone calls throughout on-call service dates.
  • Respond to on-call contacts within timelines established by policies and procedures.
  • Document on-call patient care in the electronic health record.
  • Notify the patient’s primary care physician of on-call patient care.
