Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in laboratory molecular biology.
  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Manage new projects independently from initiation to completion.
  • Assist in operating sophisticated scientific equipment.
  • Assist in developing new core procedures.
  • Help ensure the laboratory adheres to regulatory policies.
  • Review laboratory results and maintain records using appropriate laboratory notebooks or database entries.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and test new procedures or applications with minimal supervision.
  • Train Shared Resource staff and users on procedures or applications.
  • Evaluate supplies and reagents, communicate ordering needs, place orders, and verify receipts.
  • Inventory and manage stock as received.
  • Assist with quality assurance, quality control, and laboratory equipment maintenance, including minor repairs or communication with service engineers.
  • Acquire proficiency in new software programs, cloud-based tools, online web forms, and databases.
  • Maintain records for laboratory work and client interactions.
  • Keep current with publications related to research methods, techniques, and developments.
  • Execute complex research protocols within revenue-generating Shared Resource core facilities.
  • Serve as a liaison among the Shared Resource Director, Research Lab Supervisor, and research staff for laboratory and equipment maintenance, compliance, ordering, and inventory records.
  • Research, beta test, and independently develop new services, platforms, or equipment for potential implementation in the Shared Resource service menu.
  • Interact professionally with investigators, trainees, and staff.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with specific next-generation sequencing modalities, such as single-cell sequencing or metagenomics.
  • Experience with Illumina NovaSeq X Plus, Bruker Spatial Biology GeoMx or CosMx systems, 10x Genomics Chromium X or Visium CytAssist platforms, Mission Bio Tapestri, Revvity Zephyr or Hamilton Vantage liquid handlers, Thermo KingFisher Apex, or Qiagen digital PCR.
