  • Strong relationships with key retailers, brokers, and distributors, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Costco, UNFI, and KeHE.
  • Hands-on experience driving both sell-in and sell-out, with a focus on velocity, repeat purchase, and in-store performance.
  • Strong expertise in trade marketing, merchandising, and retail execution.

Responsibilities
  • Build and lead the brick-and-mortar organization, initially owning the channel individually before hiring and scaling a high-performing team and broker network.
  • Own the brick-and-mortar channel profit and loss, defining strategy and driving revenue, margins, and profitable growth while balancing short-term performance with long-term value creation.
  • Lead retail strategy and expansion by defining channel priorities and sequencing and personally driving early account acquisition.
  • Own sales and distribution by building and managing relationships with buyers, brokers, and distributors, initially in a highly hands-on manner.
  • Drive sell-through and velocity by ensuring strong in-store performance through direct involvement in merchandising, promotions, and retail execution.
  • Own trade marketing and merchandising by designing and executing retail activation strategies and testing and refining them in the early stages.
  • Manage trade spend through testing, measurement, and optimization with return-on-investment discipline.
  • Define pricing and pack strategy to balance competitiveness, margins, and velocity through strategic design and tactical execution.
  • Build scalable retail playbooks from first principles based on direct execution and in-market learnings.
  • Operate across strategy and execution, moving between high-level planning and day-to-day activities required to drive results.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Leverage omnichannel opportunities by connecting retail with digital channels to maximize customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.

About the company

Birdman is a Tokyo-listed creative and business solutions firm with two divisions: Marketing Transformation (MX) and Entertainment Transformation (EX). MX delivers end-to-end services from strategy and branding to product development using technologies like IoT and AI, along with market research, UI/UX design, campaigns, and PR, without relying on a single media channel. EX, launched in 2021, expands into entertainment by organizing large events and managing artists, including interactive experiences such as the 5D LIVE. The company differentiates itself by uniting advertising and entertainment under one roof and leveraging in-house production from its BIRDMAN acquisition to create cross-market opportunities for both B2B and B2C growth.
