Requirements
  • Must be proficient in using computers and other technologies, tools, and systems pertinent to the position.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered where applicable.
  • Must demonstrate Level 4 (Full Professional Proficiency) in spoken and written Spanish, as measured by the Defense Language Proficiency Test, Foreign Service Institute scale, or another government-recognized language proficiency assessment.
  • Must provide documentation of language proficiency upon government request.
  • Must have experience providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in operational, military, intelligence, or government environments.
  • Must have experience translating complex technical, intelligence, military, or law enforcement documents accurately.
  • Must have a current and active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Must have an active passport to support overseas travel or living requirements.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation; alcohol and drug screening may be required for federal contract compliance.
  • Must be able to work occasional extended hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed.
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities, work under deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work in a secure facility where personal electronic devices, including Bluetooth- or Wi-Fi-enabled devices, may be restricted.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Spanish-language simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during operational meetings, planning sessions, and interagency coordination activities.
  • Deliver interpretation support for General and Flag Officers, Senior Executive Service personnel, and other senior government leaders.
  • Translate written operational, intelligence, analytical, and administrative products from Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
  • Review translated products for linguistic accuracy, contextual fidelity, and proper use of military, intelligence, and law enforcement terminology.
  • Operate Sennheiser or equivalent simultaneous interpretation equipment during meetings and conferences.
  • Translate technical documents containing military, intelligence, law enforcement, and operational terminology.
  • Maintain translation and interpretation records, activity logs, and documentation in accordance with program requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between U.S. Government personnel and Spanish-speaking partners to support operational planning and coordination.
  • Protect classified information and comply with security and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional mission-related duties as required to support evolving operational requirements.
  • Serve as the in-house language expert, using proficiency in multiple languages to facilitate accurate and culturally sensitive communication.
  • Translate written and verbal content between languages, ensuring clarity and cultural relevance, and localize content for target audiences in various regions.
  • Provide real-time interpretation for meetings, conferences, and client interactions.
  • Advise colleagues and clients on cultural nuances, norms, and etiquette to prevent misunderstandings and improve cross-cultural interactions.
  • Develop and deliver language training programs for employees.
  • Review and proofread translated materials to maintain linguistic standards and accuracy.
  • Stay current with language trends, emerging dialects, and linguistic technologies, and propose improvements to language-related processes.
  • Collaborate with departments such as customer service and product development to maintain language consistency and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to multilingual content, including marketing materials, product documentation, and customer communications.
  • Analyze linguistic data and customer feedback to identify language-related opportunities and challenges, and recommend improvements.
  • Travel up to 10% for temporary duty, including possible overnight stays, by motor vehicle or air travel.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting Special Operations Forces, the Intelligence Community, Joint Task Forces, or interagency organizations.
  • Familiarity with military planning processes, intelligence operations, and operational terminology.
  • Experience supporting senior military leadership and executive-level government officials.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and operational surge periods, in support of mission requirements.
