About the job

Requirements
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in learning design, adult education, instructional design, or an equivalent field, with demonstrated ownership of both program design and delivery.
  • Direct, hands-on experience building with AI tools, with demonstrated evidence of having created something and the ability to speak credibly about the building process.
  • Experience designing and facilitating learning for cohorts of adults, such as cohort-based programs, learning communities, or similarly structured group learning environments.
  • Ability to translate an ambiguous or still-forming strategy into a concrete, well-sequenced learning experience and delivery plan, adjusting scope and pacing as new information emerges.
  • Demonstrated success managing the operational execution of a program or initiative, including coordinating a team of contributors toward a shared delivery outcome.
  • Established credibility working with senior leaders through a consultancy, design lab, ed-tech company, or similar organization serving education or social-impact leaders; direct K-12 school district experience is not required.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a track record of moving work forward without a complete plan, with willingness to create from scratch and build to think.
  • Demonstrated ability to pivot quickly when direction changes, including late in a project, without losing momentum or quality of delivery.
  • A reflective, self-aware approach to ways of working, with the ability to adapt personal habits and style to fit new or unfamiliar situations.
  • Ability to travel nationally for organizational retreats, programming, donor meetings, and professional development.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and delivery of AI Accelerators, cohort-based learning experiences that help organizational leaders identify real-world challenges, develop AI-enabled solutions, and refine those solutions through rigorous user feedback.
  • Architect the full learning journey for each cohort, designing practical learning opportunities and orchestrating a cross-functional team of coaches and technical mentors.
  • Translate strategic priorities into thoughtfully executed learning experiences that respond to the needs of different partners and participants.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the Accelerators model by adapting learning experiences to partner needs, using participant feedback and implementation insights to inform improvements, developing useful resources, and making design and delivery decisions.
  • Build trusted relationships with participating teams, organizational leaders, and executive sponsors across education and social-impact organizations, adapting engagement strategies to different stakeholder roles and contexts.
  • Own end-to-end session design, direct the delivery team, resolve ambiguity independently, and exercise judgment within established goals and priorities; collaborate with leadership on decisions that may affect scope, resources, or partner commitment.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • School Teams AI Collaborative already spans nine cities, 19 schools, and 80+ participants.
  • February 2026 science network and literacy-system work broaden addressable programs beyond math.
  • June 2026 events at ASCD, ISTE, and CAMT expand pipeline and brand visibility.

What critics are saying

  • Revenue depends on philanthropy; Valhalla and Gates renewals drive 2027 expansion timelines.
  • District purchasing freezes in 2026 delay partnerships, shrinking implementation fees and pilot conversions.
  • If AI instruction fails to show measurable gains, Leading Educators loses its core credibility.

What makes Leading Educators unique

  • 2026 AI Collaborative with TLA makes teachers co-design instructional AI, not vendors.
  • Gates Foundation granted $1.8 million in November 2025 for K-12 work.
  • Valhalla Foundation funded a 2024 scale-up targeting 272,079 students and 28,000 educators by 2027.
