Requirements
  • A Master's degree in early childhood education, early childhood administration and supervision, or child development is required.
  • At least six years of experience in similar work, including mentoring and/or early childhood teacher preparation, is required.
  • Knowledge of New York State early learning documents, including the NYS Prekindergarten Learning Standards, NYS Early Learning Guidelines, and the Core Body of Knowledge: New York State's Core Competencies for Early Educators, is required.
  • Experience with the Environment Rating Scales and designing technical assistance and mentoring based on data and assessment results is required.
  • A comprehensive understanding of center-based, family child care, and school-based early childhood settings is required.
  • Demonstrated competency in delivering technical assistance, on-site consultation, and mentoring is required.
  • A complete and current profile in The Aspire Registry is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • Accuracy entering information into databases and the ability to track, analyze, and report on data are required.
  • Strong organization and caseload management skills are required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and to listen and respond with insight, diplomacy, and respect is required.
  • Regular travel to various QUALITYstarsNY locations and local and statewide agencies or partners is required.
  • The role requires the ability to lift items weighing up to 40 pounds and to perform bending, reaching, and prolonged sitting.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver on-site technical assistance and mentoring to program leaders, including family child care providers, directors, principals, and supervisors, aligned with QUALITYstarsNY program standards.
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance and mentoring to program leaders throughout the participation process.
  • Maintain up-to-date Quality Improvement Plans in partnership with participants and analyze and monitor progress toward quality improvement.
  • Provide orientation sessions and trainings and develop learning communities to support programs in meeting their goals.
  • Build collaborative relationships with community partners to connect participants with resources and professional development opportunities.
  • Represent QUALITYstarsNY at local and regional events and conferences.
  • Maintain accurate records for allocating and tracking expenditures.
  • Develop efficient systems to carry out responsibilities using effective time-management strategies.
  • Maintain an accurate and complete Quality Improvement Plan for each participant that reflects goals, tasks, and appropriate expenditures.
  • Research local and state resources that support continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Prepare timely updates about participant progress and challenges for regularly scheduled supervision meetings.
  • Manage the schedule of visits and other priorities.
  • Plan, prepare, and participate in regularly scheduled regional meetings.
  • Plan, prepare, and carry out recruitment efforts to build the QUALITYstarsNY waitlist and expand services.
  • Participate in outreach efforts to increase awareness of QUALITYstarsNY.
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings and perform special projects and other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual Spanish/English ability is preferred.

RFCUNY is a not-for-profit educational corporation chartered by the State of New York that helps the City University of New York system obtain external funding and administer funded programs. It provides pre-award services to identify sponsors and assist with proposal development, and post-award administration to ensure compliance and proper use of resources.
