Responsibilities
  • Install electrical systems in commercial and industrial construction markets at job sites and project locations.
  • Directly supervise and coordinate assigned helper or apprentice electricians on a per-job basis.
  • Promote excellent customer relations, interact with customers, determine their needs, and provide solutions.
  • Report to the project worksite on time and ready to work.
  • Apply basic electrical and construction principles and practices to solve design, development, and modification problems involving provided parts and assemblies.
  • Complete work according to national and local codes, and learn and maintain current knowledge of the latest revision of the National Electrical Code.
  • Complete work in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Fulfill daily commitments and remain on the project schedule as directed by the job-site foreman.
  • Assist with loading materials, digging trenches, pulling wire, and other tasks needed to complete projects.
  • Treat customers, other trades personnel, vendors, and coworkers with dignity and respect.
  • Keep the job site clean before leaving and clutter-free during work.
  • Complete and submit paperwork, including timecards, when required.
  • Know, follow, and hold others accountable to the safety policy, program, and training of CESG.
  • Troubleshoot common electrical systems, including services, feeders, and branch circuits.
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize material waste, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring while following specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepare sketches showing the locations of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams and blueprints, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before walls, ceilings, and flooring are completed.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.
  • Pull wiring through conduit.
  • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connect power cables to equipment such as electric ranges or motors, and install grounding leads.
  • Observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Repair faulty equipment or systems.
