Requirements

  • An M.D. or D.O. degree is required.
  • Applicants completing a fellowship must provide their fellowship log.
  • Applicants not applying directly out of fellowship must provide a quality profile from hospitals where they currently have privileges, showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including procedure counts and morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. They must demonstrate active inpatient involvement for at least 50 patients during that period.
  • If a quality profile is unavailable, applicants must provide documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months and demonstrate active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice during that period.
  • Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated Internal Medicine residency program and a Hematology or Oncology fellowship, or an integrated Hematology and Medical Oncology program accredited by the ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is required. Training from other accredited organizations may be considered through the stated waiver process.
  • Certification in the primary practice area by the appropriate ABMS, AOA, or Royal College specialty or subspecialty board is required. Applicants completing fellowship within the last five years may apply without current board certification but must achieve certification within five years of fellowship completion unless waived by the governing board.
  • More education and experience may be required as the practice becomes more advanced.

  • Join an established Cancer Center and Research Program.
  • Participate in a full-range oncology practice, including outpatient infusion and inpatient care, multidisciplinary tumor boards, and teaching opportunities.
  • Participate in research and clinical trials, supported by dedicated research registered nurses and coordinators.

About the Company

Sanford Health

Nonprofit health system operating hospitals

Sanford Health is a large nonprofit health system that delivers hospital care, elder and post-acute services, and related health care through a network of hospitals, clinics, and senior care facilities across the Midwest. It operates by integrating multiple care settings into one system, supported by research and global health initiatives. Its model combines acute hospital care, long-term care, and post-acute services under a single organization, with a strong emphasis on philanthropy and mergers to expand reach and capabilities. The company differentiates itself through its breadth of services across the care continuum, extensive rural and regional presence, and a history of strategic mergers that create a full-spectrum care model rather than focusing on a single niche. Sanford Health’s goal is to provide comprehensive, accessible health care to communities, advance pediatric care and medical research, and extend health services through global clinics and partnerships.
