Requirements
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in global sourcing, supply management, product development, manufacturing, or related supply chain roles.
  • Significant experience working directly with global manufacturers and managing complex supplier relationships, ideally in consumer products, home, stationery, gifting, retail, or other design-led categories.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing sourcing strategies across multiple products, categories, or suppliers.
  • Strong commercial experience, including strategic supplier negotiations, cost management, pricing, minimum order quantities, payment terms, and value engineering.
  • Strong understanding of supply and inventory planning, demand forecasting, production planning, capacity management, and purchase-order processes.
  • Deep understanding of product development and manufacturing processes from concept through commercialization and scaled production.
  • Experience managing supplier compliance and working knowledge of international trade requirements, including customs, duties, tariffs, country of origin, product classification, and import documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and manage supplier performance, capacity, quality, compliance, and supply risk.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs across cost, landed cost, quality, inventory, speed, innovation, compliance, and risk.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or developing team members.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
Responsibilities
  • Lead global sourcing and supply strategies across assigned product categories, ensuring the supplier network has the capabilities, capacity, cost structure, quality, compliance, and resilience needed to support business objectives.
  • Develop and evolve the global supplier portfolio, including identifying capability gaps, evaluating new sourcing markets and manufacturing partners, and leading the qualification and onboarding of strategic suppliers.
  • Partner with Product Development and Business Operations early in the product development process to inform supplier selection, manufacturability, target costs, materials, lead times, and commercialization strategies.
  • Provide oversight of new product development and commercialization, ensuring complex or strategically important programs are effectively transitioned from concept through scaled production.
  • Own strategic supplier relationships and lead major commercial negotiations, including pricing frameworks, minimum order quantities, lead times, payment terms, capacity commitments, and other key commercial terms.
  • Develop and lead cost-management and value-engineering strategies across the portfolio, identifying opportunities to improve product economics through supplier negotiations, materials, manufacturing methods, product specifications, sourcing decisions, and landed-cost optimization.
  • Provide oversight of supply and inventory planning across the portfolio, ensuring demand forecasts are translated into appropriate purchasing, production, and inventory strategies that balance availability, lead times, capacity, minimum order quantities, and supply risk.
  • Partner with Planning and Supply Chain teams to identify longer-term demand, capacity, and inventory risks and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place.
  • Lead supplier capacity and production-readiness planning, particularly for major product launches, seasonal demand, and peak periods, ensuring sufficient materials, tooling, labor, equipment, and contingency plans are in place.
  • Own the compliance framework for the global supplier network, ensuring suppliers meet requirements related to responsible sourcing, product and regulatory compliance, documentation, testing, and applicable standards.
  • Partner with Logistics, Finance, Legal, and external customs and trade partners to ensure compliance with import/export requirements, customs regulations, product classification, country-of-origin requirements, duties, tariffs, and required shipping documentation.
  • Monitor changes in tariffs, duties, trade regulations, and sourcing-country requirements; assess potential cost and supply implications and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate global sourcing and supply risks, including supplier concentration, capacity constraints, material availability, long lead times, geopolitical exposure, trade and compliance risk, tariffs, quality issues, and other potential disruptions.
  • Establish and manage supplier performance expectations across cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness, capacity, compliance, and continuous improvement, using scorecards, business reviews, corrective-action plans, and executive escalation as appropriate.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure appropriate supplier quality systems, product specifications, testing, inspection standards, and corrective-action processes are established and maintained.
  • Partner with Logistics and Supply Chain to ensure sourcing and production strategies account for freight, lead times, shipment timing, inventory requirements, customs and import requirements, duties and tariffs, and landed-cost considerations.
  • Build strong relationships with supplier ownership and senior leadership while maintaining clear accountability for performance.
  • Identify emerging manufacturing technologies, materials, supplier capabilities, and sourcing opportunities that can enable product innovation, improve economics, or strengthen the supply network.
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, processes, and visibility across sourcing, development, production, inventory, compliance, and supplier performance to enable proactive decision-making and escalation.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, prioritization, and development for members of the Global Sourcing & Supply team.
  • Travel internationally as required for supplier visits, strategic business reviews, product development, production reviews, and sourcing activities.

Minted operates an online marketplace that sells stationery, art prints, and home decor designed by independent artists. The company uses a crowdsourcing model where artists submit designs to monthly competitions, and the community votes to determine which products are manufactured and sold. Unlike traditional retailers that rely on in-house design teams, Minted uses this voting system to ensure its inventory is pre-approved by customers while providing global artists a platform to earn commissions. The company's goal is to provide a continuous stream of fresh, high-quality designs to consumers while supporting the careers of independent creators.
