Requirements
- A master's degree in behavioral sciences, human services, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, counseling, or a clinically related field is required.
- If currently unlicensed, the candidate must be on track to complete licensure for a specific related discipline.
- Candidates may hold a provisional or intermediary license such as LGSW, LMSW, LAMFT, or LPC.
- Some experience working in a residential, intensive inpatient, or outpatient setting is required.
- A valid driver's license is required, and the candidate must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements.
- The candidate must be able to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
- The candidate must successfully participate in and complete a three-part Therapeutic Crisis Intervention exam and training.
- The candidate must successfully pass a DHS criminal background check.
- The candidate must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, including language, traditions, and values.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall management of youths' treatment through active engagement, clinical assessment, treatment, and discharge planning.
- Provide clinical insight and work from a trauma-informed lens to enhance the milieu and programming.
- Engage with families through family therapy and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with community organizations and providers regarding youths' progress and discharge planning.
- Help establish and maintain a positive treatment culture and environment.
- Work with youth and families to develop a Nexus Individual and Family Guidance Plan.
- Participate actively in Family Collaborative Intake meetings.
- Complete the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths functional assessment according to TCOM collaborative principles.
- Develop and monitor individual treatment plans collaboratively with families, youth, and providers.
- Provide individualized, youth-focused, strength-based, and evidence-based family and individual therapy, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
- Develop and facilitate trauma-informed, educational, and treatment-focused milieu and treatment groups.
- Participate in all youth-related treatment team meetings using family-centered and youth-driven principles.
- Serve as a clinical treatment team leader to YCPs by modeling and coaching staff on rapport building, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation techniques in the treatment milieu.
- Be available on call for consultation, treatment direction, and decisions when appropriate.
- Assess readiness for discharge with the treatment team.
- Coordinate and communicate client aftercare needs with families and necessary social service and community providers to ensure a smooth transition.
- Communicate with treatment team members, family members, educational, legal, community, and social service providers, and natural supports to gather information for the treatment process.
- Produce and maintain required client reports, records, and documentation accurately, consistently, and timely according to policy and regulated statutes.
- Educate staff and facilitate training on trauma-informed practices, clinical diagnosis treatment processes, and other clinically relevant material.
- Participate in team meetings, program clinical team meetings, therapy clinical supervision sessions, and required in-service activities.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding mental health, medical issues, and treatment backgrounds, and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Remain current on company policies, assigned training, and certification requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- Full licensure in Minnesota as LICSW, LPCC, or LMFT.
- Related residential or human services experience working with youth and families.
