Requirements
  • Five years of facility operations and maintenance work experience.
  • A high school diploma plus trades training and certification.
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals.
  • Highly advanced ability to adhere to processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Highly advanced ability to maintain and repair building mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Highly advanced building mechanical and electrical equipment and system troubleshooting and resolution skills.
  • Current knowledge of fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards, with the ability to research and apply related codes and standards.
  • Ability to perform work in a safe manner with a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
  • Strong client-service orientation and a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification.
  • Journeyman-level Refrigeration license, Journeyman-level Electrical license, Journeyman-level Plumbing license, Power Engineering 3rd Class or 4th Class, Building Operator Certification, or Gasfitter I or II.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and monitor the activities and performance of Technicians within the assigned facility, ensuring compliance with established processes and internal and external requirements.
  • Champion and enforce safety protocols and conduct safety training, risk assessments, and incident investigations as needed.
  • Perform safety assessments of building equipment and recommend technical safety enhancements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Technicians in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Oversee maintenance tasks and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment and other systems.
  • Coordinate and participate in facility-related projects.
  • Respond to routine and on-demand service requests.
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs and monitor and inspect mechanical, electrical, and other equipment and systems.
  • Execute technical inspections of building equipment and identify maintenance needs and improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee and perform preventative and corrective maintenance to support facility uptime, uninterrupted client operations, and asset integrity.
  • Provide observations and recommendations regarding facility and equipment conditions and deficiencies in partnership with the Asset Management Team and Facility Management Office.
  • Enhance tenant and customer satisfaction by delivering timely, high-quality services and addressing occupant concerns.
  • Work shifts and remain available for on-call, standby, and emergency call-outs.
  • Coordinate and assist in implementing a preventative maintenance program, ensuring deficiencies are recorded, escalated, and documented.
  • Communicate maintenance activities and challenges to team members, clients, and management.
  • Escalate critical maintenance issues to the Facility Manager and Computerized Maintenance Management System Team.
  • Oversee, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment.
  • Assign, prioritize, and monitor work progress in partnership with the Computerized Maintenance Management System Team.
  • Monitor activity execution and performance for timely completion, quality, procedures, and contract response requirements.
  • Manage work orders efficiently with the Central Work Order Management Team, prioritizing tasks by urgency and importance.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of work performed and maintain detailed records.
  • Maintain assigned tools and arrange for their repair or replacement, submitting expenditures on time.
  • Manage maintenance budgets and expenses with Facility Management and Regional Directors.
  • Prepare and review quotes for maintenance projects.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance services.
  • Evaluate vendor performance with support from Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Management.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous people leadership experience.
  • Systems Maintenance Administration Certification.

Veritas Capital to acquire facilities manager BGIS. July 17, 2026 | John McNulty Veritas Capital has agreed to acquire BGIS from CCMP Capital Advisors and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). BGIS runs and maintains buildings and facilities - offices, data centers, and government, healthcare, and industrial sites - for large public and private organizations, handling the engineering, operations, and technology that keep those properties running, a service known in the industry as technical integrated facilities management (IFM). The company oversees more than 65,000 facilities totaling over 620 million square feet globally with a team of more than 12,000. Gord Hicks continues as chief executive officer and will lead the business with his management team. CCMP and AIMCo had backed BGIS since 2019. Veritas Capital, a technology investor focused on companies operating at the intersection of technology and government, manages over $54 billion in assets. James Dimitri, partner and co-head of flagship private equity at Veritas, led the transaction for the firm.
