Requirements
  • A minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy is required.
  • A Master's degree in Physical Therapy is preferred.
  • Licensure or certification required by California state guidelines is required.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • One year of Physical Therapy experience is preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in a residential or assisted living facility or skilled nursing facility is preferred.
  • New graduates are considered.
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday and lift more than 100 pounds with assistance according to residents' abilities.
  • Ability to sit and walk for extended periods and bend, squat, push, stoop, and pull as needed for patient care.
  • Ability to meet the facility's general health requirements, including a physical examination.
  • Ability to travel by car or plane as necessary to reach assigned destinations.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, use appropriate safety equipment, and comply with Health Department regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide, direct, and supervise quality patient care, including screening, evaluation, treatment, treatment planning, goal setting, family education, and documentation.
  • Advocate for current and prospective patients and rehabilitation services with internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate across disciplines to provide consistent patient care.
  • Participate in quality assurance and customer service activities.
  • Direct and supervise assistants, rehabilitation aides, and students in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Develop treatment plans and provide treatment consistent with benefit and reimbursement levels to achieve the best functional outcome for each patient.
  • Complete evaluations, daily progress notes, summaries, and monthly reports as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Physical Therapy code of ethics and California Physical Therapy practice requirements.
  • Educate staff, healthcare professionals, and third-party payers about intervention benefits and functional outcomes.
  • Participate in care plan meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and family training to communicate patient status during therapy.
  • Attend continuing education seminars and workshops to maintain current clinical skills, programs, and techniques.
  • Provide in-service training sessions and educational presentations to company, team, or facility personnel.
  • Maintain appropriate state licensure, certification, and credentialing.
  • Submit billing, payroll, and expense documentation in a timely manner.
  • Refer patients to other members of the rehabilitation team.
  • Follow organizational and facility safety procedures for personal protection and patient safety.
